Hi Filip, thanks for an interesting article. I'm a big fan of Landlordinvest. I have a minor disagreement with one point you made. I.e. " quality technology is essential to the success of a platform and there should be a founder as the in-house tech expert." My bold. Whilst I would agree that it's highly desirable, I can't agree that it's essential. I invest in quite a few platforms where the platform UI is definitely sub-par (SoMo and HNW Lending spring to mind). I'm very happy to invest on both of those platforms. I feel it would have been a mistake to have ruled them out on the quality of their technology. One other point I would make on your comments about communication, it's actually a request for improvement really. I find it frustrating that I don't receive a notification when updates are posted about my LLI loans. Perhaps you could consider adding an email setting to allow us to select to be notified of updates, and perhaps for new questions and responses also. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback Ace, it is much appreciated. I'd agree that lenders are potentially willing to struggle through a subpar UI if a platform checks a lot of other boxes for them. This is perhaps more of a customer experience and design issue. However, behind the scenes the technology does have to be spot on, to avoid mistakes with deposit and withdrawal transactions (as we've seen some platforms struggle with before) or to support their reporting or regulatory responsibilities (which ensure the stable future of the platform).
We'd like to think we represent a good example of a platform that has both a great interface, and great functionality and infrastructure. Although it's true that a lot of technology is rather hidden and hard for a potential lender to assess.
Thank you for the suggestion with regard to update notifications. We’ve had the same request previously but have decided against implementing it for now, considering all aspects of implementing to managing it efficiently (from a user experience to time and cost perspective). Further, reading various posts on this forum in relation to other platforms loan update mechanism, it would appear that we already have one of the best functionalities in the industry.
Filip

With the recent delayed repayment of 'T** W******** 2' and 2 loans down to 2 more repayments remaining (which I need to decide whether to sell) and another 3 down to 3 repayments remaining I will soon have 50% of my £20k in LLI uninvested.
With a limit of £1000 on the dribble of new loans that we have experienced recently things are looking bleak for the future.

I understand your frustration, gramsky . Highest interest rates in nearly 40 years have certainly impacted on the property market, with projects becoming unviable due to higher cost of debt and property investors being very cautious. We have last week’s seen a noticeable uptick in activity so hopefully that will also translate to loans on the platform. We do have a flexible ISA, and you could look into how it works and if it suits your needs as an alternative to keeping cash on the platform, as I fully understand that it is frustrating having cash sitting and not earning any interest (especially in the current high interest rate environment). You could also transfer cash to other ISAs and we do not charge any ISA transfer fees. Filip
