Hi to all Recently discovered a P2P site called Welendus. Put £200 in to test it. Seems legitimate but just asking if anyone knows about it and your thoughts. Seems to be into pay day loans. Sounds a bit risky but claims to refund capital if the loan defaults. Too good to be true? No borrowers yet. Edit : Thread link removed as threads merged.

How did you manage to put money in? When I tried to, it says you have to have an invitation?
I did check the company is registered with the FCA first though!

I did check the company is registered with the FCA first though! This and many other questions are answered in this thread p2pindependentforum.com/thread/11000/welendus-soft-launch-dec-2017As far as I remember you need to apply and you get "token" e-mailed to you.

I did check the company is registered with the FCA first though! Yes you need this magic key. Got mine after some hassle and after cancelling my application. Not at all clear from the website but ask for the key and see what happens.

Looks good.

The 'launch' is still very soft as the website says "For now, borrowing is currently disabled" if you try to get a quote.

Companies house states Egyptian for nationality if that helps. I have spoken with Nadeem on the phone and have found his English to be very good, crisp and clear, perhaps easier to understand than my Scots accent. His spoken English is irrelevant, it's what he writes and whether there are typos and grammatical mistakes on the website that show how much care and attention is being paid to presentation. For me this would indicate how much care and attention was being applied behind the scenes.

Looks good. I've merged it into this thread for now so it is all in one place. It could be possible to create a dedicated board for Welendus in future.

If you are not happy with his presentation skills then don't invest if that's of paramount importance to you. So what if he is Egyptian, French, Estonian or whatever if he is trying to get something off the ground here to disrupt a sector full of sharklike companies. This type of presentation issue has happened before and resolved early in a platforms life as new staff members are onboarded.

Happy to risk a toe in the water on this one so have created and activated an account as per the website.
Problem now is that trying to login gives a Login failed message each time.
Requested and received a link to reset the password which worked fine but login attempts still break down with Login failed messages.
Have emailed them but the automatic reply says they will aim to respond within 5 working days!! Not great for a login problem.
But at least I received my token by email an hour and a half later!! Shame I can't login to use it!!
Maybe next Monday?

nsiam - Are you the also responsible for updating the website? If not, how many people are employed looking after this. The reason I ask, is and if I sound blunt I apologise, is that your English here has a few 'ouch' typos and usage of grammar. Now on a forum, we can be relaxed about this, but probably not on a commercial website. The errors are quite similar, so do you update the site as well? If so you might want to get a proof reader. I have been reading this thread from page 1 trying to decide whether to dip my toe in the water and was very put off by the number of typos, clearly spelling mistakes and bad grammar by nsiam. I too wonder whether English is not his native language, but as you say puddleduck, if not he should get his posts proofread. One that stood out particularly as it was in BOLD was "This is not an investment advise". Mixing up noun and verb versions of this word is quite common and I'm sure everyone understood what he meant. I personally wouldn't consider spelling and grammar mistakes as part of criteria for my investment decisions.

Well, if you didn't understand what he meant by that, you're probably not very good at reading Englander!

nsiam - Are you the also responsible for updating the website? If not, how many people are employed looking after this. Between myself and my co-founder, yes. We do all the website updates ourselves. We are a very small team doing all the work in house and extremely busy ... This really should set alarm bells ringing for any potential investor/borrower who uses the welendus.com website and provides their personal/financial information through it! In my experience, in most cases when those behind an initial idea/product are also entirely responsible for building/maintaining the website/platform behind it, there's probably going to be some pretty big security flaws present! "co-founders", etc - who may well have basic website building skills - won't necessarily also have adequate security knowledge and skills in order to make their websites actually "secure". For example, the supposedly "secure" welendus.com site supports the insecure SSL 3 protocol, weak Diffie-Hellman (DH) ciphers, and insecure RC4 ciphers - which makes the website vulnerable to both POODLE and LOGJAM attacks.

Do you take bookings for parties?
