Perhaps the reality is that strong loan origination volumes and decent risk to reward are simply incompatible. No borrower who needs to pay 25% is ever likely to be low risk. Perhaps it is feasible to find a select number of borrowers who are reasonable risks given the yield on offer. What FS and SS have demonstrated amply is that it is very hard to scale that proposition. Very quickly these platforms simply originate loans that are far too smelly. Perhaps the signal to leave Abl is that collectively we stop complaining about the lack of new loans.

Forecasting pipeline can become an issue, and it puts unecessary pressure on the credit team. What we end up doing is giving constant updates and answering questions from lenders trying to evaluate a loan before its live. so now the notice is given when we are 99% sure we are there.
As far as sustainability of Ablrate, we do very nicely from our operations and will be profitable this year, we are scaling to a plan. We know that there are there are many who post lots of loans and are everywhere stating how amazing they are, only to find they are then raising more money on eye watering valuations to make more unprofitable loans. This makes no sense to us, we want to write good loans that are profitable for all.. and sometimes that takes time.

ablrate, will there be any bid limits on the loan launching on Wednesday, please? With the three Eco**** loans having just repaid, I suspect that the new loan will fill rather quickly!

+1 .. we NEED some limits for at least a few hours, or those busy at 8pm will miss out. Either that or get the automation working. Or expect bots.

Hi ablrate, given the recent successful repayments and encroachment into family time with the launch time (and possible neglection of overseas investors - no-one will ever be completely happy!), could you please confirm what the 24hr bid limits will be, many thanks 😊

Hi ablrate as I have a lot of dead money on the platform at the moment can you please give an idea(ish) of pipeline when and size? Thanks I've already asked similar question and ablrate has answered this - "Forecasting pipeline can become an issue, and it puts unecessary pressure on the credit team. What we end up doing is giving constant updates and answering questions from lenders trying to evaluate a loan before its live. so now the notice is given when we are 99% sure we are there." Very reasonable answer, I think. If you have a lot of idle money you can withdraw it (takes a couple of days in my experience) and reinvest when new loans are live (instant deposit by debit card). I use instant access savings bank account for this, so whilst my money is in waiting they are earning 1.3% (better than nothing).

Ablrate phoned me the other day to verify my withdrawal request. Whilst on the phone the representative said they were hoping to launch a loan in the next week or so and another loan a week or two after that. So might be something at the beginning of August.

Whilst on the phone the representative said they were hoping to launch a loan in the next week or so and another loan a week or two after that. So might be something at the beginning of August. But they have also said that they will hold new loans until the bidding system is fixed. The next launch date is the later of two events.
