How can I sell some or all of my investments just to see the mechanism at work? I just spent 5 minutes playing around with the site but couldn't see a way to do it.

You can trial 'cash out' from the cash you have un-invested though. That works fine. For invested capital, you just have to wait-a-bit (typically 6 months).

The only way to get money out is to set all the auto invest settings to 0 under auto lend in your dashboard. Then as loans repay you can withdraw.

I would be astounded if michaelc had a zero balance though, and from memory there is no minimum withdrawal level. If it helps with part of the original post, the withdrawal mechanism works fairly well in my experience. Maybe on some of the forums we need a 'what do we know' thread (maybe even a sticky) listing basic knowledge, could benefit us all I am often having to check current positions on platforms, and weeding out the information can be quite time consuming.

I wish there was a setting on unbolted to just reinvest the capital, not the interest.

Sadly and embarrassingly my cash balance was close to zero. I just hadn't realised there was no secondary market (the embarrassing part). To be slightly fair I only have a small part of my pot there and my "cash out test" has brought this out but I admit something as fundamental as that I should have researched better. Anyway, at least I know now....

Anyway, at least I know now.... I only have the provision and gold trust sections active and find it pretty much looks after itself with a couple of thousand pounds, judging by the number of emails I get (which I have just now changed to daily report only) the turnover is pretty steady. I never had this one down as much more than a fund and forget bit of diversity that would give a steady return. To date it has done it's job fairly well. If there is any interest, I am happy to start and maintain a core knowledge thread. We can start if off with No secondary market (probable 6 months full withdrawal period - unless defaults) No Option to separate interest from capital on reinvesting settings If anybody wants to throw in some more facts, I will tidy it up and do the deed.

Provision Trust and Gold Trust loans benefit from a PF; Bespoke loans to do not.

Well, you learn (or get reminded) of something new everyday . Since Collateral went down I have not deleted a single P2P email, my unbolted tally far outweighs all others with 10+ emails virtually every weekday, but I too have just ticked the daily summary email option (which if I knew existed I had forgotten) and look forward to a reduced volume.
I think what you are suggesting is an FAQ type thread or Platform Nuts and Bolts maybe, for us P2P nuts ( ), and if you want to create one I will pin it for you

Got my first daily summary email today - quite like it. Much better value than endless separate ones, nicely summarised activity and a very handy cash balance in your Unbolted account as of the end of the day, will act as a weather vein for the need to log in. Thanks for the info and glad I changed.

Thanks for the info and glad I changed. I've changed to daily summary a while ago. Works very well, especially because (unlike in the past) you can now send the top up in the evening and it is on your cash account next morning ready for investment. Very convenient.
