For new readers, some 44 of your fellow P2P lenders have supported Kiva.org to lend to the world's poor at low local interest rates to make change possible in their lives. While we expect to eventually lose all our money (yeah really, so maybe like COL or Lendy ;-) ) this money can be re-lent time after time, while borrowers only pay local interest charges.
This work has only being going a couple of years now and today stands at $13,675 lent to over 527 loans.
At this time, there are a lot of demands for your money.
So guess what? Here is another opportunity to give some more to help people who really are "down the pan" around the world. (you will not believe how many people want to build a loo for $1300 :-) )
If you make your payment via paypal they don't seem to charge for the conversion to US dollars.
before you make any loans sign up to our P2Plenders team please.

Do you know any stats about those micros loans? like defaults and arrears? I’m not sure I just count it as a donation they keeps on giving. I don’t fixate on losses 5% this year on stock market or P2P individual loan losses. I put things into perspective some of the people on here make less in a month than I get in2 days interest. I would rather give to someone I know is trying to do the best for themselves and their family than to someone here who just looks for handouts. The small amounts I lend helps many others. I get the money back the interest is the knowledge I get knowing I made a difference. I haven’t had a default yet. If I did I would feel sad, not for me but for them as it would mean things for them went from bad to worse. I just give £15 to each so no great loss if one or two didn’t repay on time or even not at all..

I started a year ago and lend the equivalent of 25 dollars per month, to date four have repaid, it is great to see the difference small amounts can make to people's lives. Only just realised that there is a p2p team and joined.
I also gave gift cards to friends and relatives for Christmas. I don't expect any return of funds, if they repay it means that they have been successful and I can lend the money to another person or group.

These people are working to move out of poverty. A little help up seems the least we can do.

I joined kiva and the team and lent on first loan. But it doesn’t seem to have unticked the team amount (which should have taken it to the 14k mark

quick question for those more experienced:
is the minimum you can lend on any loan $25 ? It appears to be. just wondering how I can relend out when I have smaller amounts repaid than that (other than obviously topping up).
