I tried to add funds to my Mintos account but I was told that I must verify my identity by uploading passport or ID; this has not been necessary before. I do not have a current UK passport and have no plans to get one, and we do not have ID cards in the UK. I asked Mintos whether a driving licence was acceptable and received two separate answers from different people: yes and no. Does anyone have any helpful comments on this from experience? Many thanks.

The process is very quick. Try it with your driving licence.

If i were you, i would be more concerned about withdrawing funds from Mintos. After all, if they don't accept your hard earned money, i am sure you can invest it elsewhere. But if you are not allowed to deposit, then the chances are that you will not be able to withdraw your money either. I have verified my account with driving licence and i have made several deposits/withdrawals, never had any problems so far. I remember there used to be a note at their withdraw page, saying that my identity is verified as relevant documents have been uploaded, so i can make a withdrawal. I just checked and this note is missing, should i also worry?

I'm 99% sure proof of ID for deposits is due to EU anti money laundering legislature. Financial institutions have to verify their clients and the flow of money. So for a company like mintos, which probably have tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of euros going in and out every day, this can be very crucial just to get banks work with them. They have gone through many SEPA transfer banks over the years...

Have you solved this problem yet? Please keep us informed, as being able to make transactions from/to Mintos is a crucial matter.

When I opened my account a few years ago I used my passport as ID.A few days ago I got an Email from Mintos that is was about to expire and to submit the new one which I did under their system which requires a photo of me and also photos of my ID. It has not yet been verified due to the holidays and when I go to the funding page I am not allowed to deposit or withdraw until it is. So make sure you can provide what they want or you may have problems getting your funds when your present ID expires.
