I thought folks might be interested in my recent selling experience. Prompted by the need to diversify, I sold a loan at a small discount; it took a few days but went eventually. What intrigues me is the size of some of the purchases: Price paid
| Number
| Less than 50p | 1 | 50p to 99p | 2 | £1 to £5 | 3 | £5 to £10 | 5 | £10 to £20 | 1 | above £20 | 9 |
I normally wouldn't trade at anything below £50 if I could help it; the return is very small indeed and doesn't justify switching the PC on, really. I have once ended up with less than 50p in a loan which I then sold, to square off the books.
Any insights into the very small trades?

Lots of smaller investors seem to like reinvesting every penny of interest as it arrives. Used to drive me nuts with all the extra transactions it causes, but Ablrate’s new transaction download format enabled automation of my reconciliation spreadsheet, so I no longer care 🙂

I resemble that remark .. although I didn't realise I could buy <£1 (assuming I could work out what to enter into the 'buy' box to get the pence to come out right .... Doesn't it do femtopence too??

So it wasn’t you that kept buying 1p parts of my best loans, at 5/6/7% premium, presumably thinking the displayed price paid of 1p meant they’d dodged the premium?!

Nope, not me .. if I'd planned to do that I'd have at least programmed a repeat loop to buy the 1p 100 or 1000 times (that would have delighted you, wouldn't it!).

Where are the thousandths and less recorded?

I only buy in round pounds - the pennies can look after themselves.

Achieved a sale of 12p. Wow! Come on ablrate, this is just plain daft.
By the way, here is a tip folks. If you buy your hundreds (or whatever) in multiple trades of 12p, you can apparently avoid paying the accrued interest!

Better than a femto-pence on AC! ablrate - would it be possible to allow users to opt in/out of different emails, e.g. new loans, SM sales, SM purchases, deposits, withdrawals, etc. The SM emails no longer include the attached novation agreement, these are available directly on the platform.

Putting my pious hat on (not easily found and rarely used), may I remind forumites of the parable of the widow's mite. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesson_of_the_widow%27s_mite
12p may be nothing to you and me, but some disadvantaged person may have saved forever to scrape together just a pound to open their Ablrate account, which would show so much more financial responsibility than just buying a lottery ticket. That 12p may be honouring you with a very significant investment, in the context of their portfolio. Setting a minimum trade on the SM would not work for a number of reasons... You can configure what emails you receive by clicking on Notifications (the bell at the top) .. and clicking on 'Configure Emails' - all the emails are there and you can decide which ones you want to receive or not

Excellent, I didn't know that but then I'm not too fussed about receiving numerous emails. Thanks

Just in case either you're serious (or someone reading it is inclined to try it out when purchasing from me!), I'm pretty sure that this statement isn't true. My transaction history often contains entries for which the equality 'previous Balance' + 'transaction Amount' = 'new Balance' is off by a penny. I'm taking that as evidence that the system is tracking fractions of a penny under the covers, but rounding the displayed values...rather than that the system can't add up!
