I will have to 'Pass' on the scam/genuine question, but there is another that is over a £1 cheaper. The answers section has a site name so maybe further research is possible.

I had to buy a new PC at Christmas and couldn't reinstall Microsoft office onto it (office on the old machine was via HUP, which my company no longer supported).
I looked around several sources (incl over £200 for office professional from PC World) and ended up buying Office 2016 professional from Amazon for £15. Works perfectly, and was from the same seller as the Windows 10 deal (xlena). I was a bit suspicious, but if it's on Amazon I assume it is kosher.

On the righthand side of that amazon page is this text, which contains a link (as follows)
Dispatched from and sold by xlena
The subsequent page reveals the seller is based in Nanyang, Henan, China and doesn't supply a business name just a load of random characters.
I think the only sensible conclusion is 'scam'.

I looked into these before. Google "OEM key" and have a read. It's basically bound to the motherboard, so if your motherboard dies, or you switch computers, you cant do anything else with the licence.
I dunno if they're 100% legit to be sold separately like that. They're more for companies that make PC's, (say pcworld) to buy in bulk and tie to individual machines that they sell or something. I think it's all a bit of a grey area tbh.

If you are a director of a company, need to think through the implications of buying any software that may not be genuine.
The heading entitled 'Imprisonment' might help the decision process.

I'm afraid I don't agree that buying an item from Amazon from a Chinese vendor equals scam. I thought I'd post here to see what my fellow p2p investors think. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't !
Anyway, I suspect that in time this OS will be given away to keep users and developers "on track" (the MS way that is). It is interesting that already a fully functional copy of (adware included) windows 10 can be downloaded from MS's website and it never expires (although I think it does contain a permanent watermark asking the user to obtain a licence).
Obviously it is rubbish that a software key can contain malware.
I also wonder if a consumer makes a purchase on the Amazon website (indeed this item was flagged by Amazon as "Amazon's choice") he could then be prosecuted for piracy? I suspect that is rubbish too.
During my 20-25 years as a software engineer for one of the largest IT companies in the world, I remember regularly trying to get the relevant managers to understand the importance of paying for licences. We had dozens of linux distributions (not the free versions, the paid ones which come with support) but nobody seemed to care. This was from a company sitting on a cash mountain of double-triple digit billions. For an individual to buy a key via a legitimate retailer (actually to merely be suspected of buying such a key) to receive such condemnation seems to me incredible and possibly out of date.
The main thing I've learned from this thread so far, is that given this is an area I know something about (technically at least) it is interesting to see a minority of people blatantly post up untruths as if they are correct! Definitely makes me think such people are doing the same thing in more important threads on the forum.
I've clearly touched a nerve (and similarly a nerve has been touched) so I shan't post any more on this subject.

I've reported that listing to Amazon as a listing violation, it will be interesting to see what response I get.
In the meantime
is one of a number of warnings that a lot of software listings on Amazon are not for genuine software.

Can't see what all the fuss is about......... it's only £6.99. My WINDOWS 10 was free, and I had indicated the I did not want it as I felt my laptop was to old and really working well on WINDOWS 8.1, now it is absolutely useless. I wish I could get WINDOWS 8.1 for only £6.99
