Hi all,
Have recently started investing in Ablrate loans knowing that there was a SM just in case. I know from experience on the Bridgecrowd SM that loans there sell very quickly (<1hr). Any one have any experience selling on the Ablrate SM? How long have you had to wait to sell at what sort of premium/discount?
thanks

Provided you set your price to be “best available” and monitor / adjust as needed, most loans will find a buyer within a day or two. Level of discount needed (or premium even, for some) depends entirely on the balance of supply vs demand for each loan, like all proper markets.

It's very active. I buy on it daily to reinvest payments.
Anything that's not distressed usually sells easily at 3% discount at worst; sometimes at a profit depending on extant sentiment.
Best SM out there IMO.

that's perfect - thanks! Would be more useful I guess if bids and offers had timestamps.

I like it a lot. One of the reasons for it being so active is probably due to Ablrate (unfortunately) not having very many primary loans so there is a constant stream of natural buyers on the secondary market when interest and capital repayments come in.

I would say that it is essential to the success of the platform, and provides excellent functionality. Without the SM to provide liquidity and to mitigate risk (as I see risk), I do not think I would be a lender here. [Cue for ablrate to switch it off .]

I'd also add that transactions on the SM are FOC and interest continues to accrue until the loan part is sold (which isn't the case with all P2P platforms)

Very, very active! Just got an email:
''This e-mail is to notify you that you have successfully been matched and sold £0.01 of {£xxxx} that is offered on the secondary market''
Now what will I do with all this dough?

As active buyers on the SM, what do you find more attractive to buy amortising or interest only loans.
I noticed the offer rates for amortising loans are higher than interest only loans.
Obviously amaortising loans you get capital repayment each month as well as interest, but isn't it more likely a borrower can pay an interest amount rather than capital and interest?
Just trying to get an idea of peoples thought process on the two types

Amortising loans generally become less risky as they age, interest only loans generally become more risky as they age as they often rely on refinancing or incoming funds to repay the total loan.

Is there not a way of amending the % offer without having to cancel it and make a new offer from scratch?

Is there not a way of amending the % offer without having to cancel it and make a new offer from scratch? No. As already explained to you in the Newbie Questions thread.
