This guy really is a lazy journalist. He didn't even touch the one loan where I think that MT really did screw up.

I am not a money thing investor. But am surprised how much trust people have with their p2p provider over an established tabloid newspaper.

I'm sure the Sunday Times will be thrilled at your description. The good news is I can form my own opinion & can clearly see the the journalist isn't exactly accurate in his facts.

Anything I ever read where I actually knew the facts has always been wrong .. I conclude that everything I read when I don't know thje facts is probably equally wrong. 'Fake news' is really hard to distinguish from the SNAFU sort that they have pumped out for years.

I almost, sometimes have sympathy with the Donald with his fake news complaints (well maybe I wouldn't go that far ). Not much trust in P2P platforms either, be very careful, keep a really close eye, hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Fair point, considering how many default posts are attached to the MT link.

I had a look at the loan book - looks like 26 property loans were repaid in full while 17 were either defaulted with some loss or are not paying interest. I think statistics look pretty bad as a lender would not be expected to make money with these statistics I reckon.

I have exactly the same experience. I have been involved in a few different industries, and I have never hardly ever been impressed by the coverage. I did know a few people who went into journalism - top firsts in English or Modern Languages and they arrive at Reuters to find that it spends 90% of its effort reporting financial news. Another started at a broadsheet to report international trade or science policy! Edit: On reflection a probable exception was Gillian Tett in the FT on some aspects of the financial crisis.

I just checked and there are 18 loans that are in the default status, wonder if it was a terminology issue he had, using the term non performing when he should have used default(ing)

Yeah, I think that P2P in general suffers from some kind of binary semantics. If a loan hasn't been termed a default, then obviously everything is OK.
Lendy could still claim today that no lender has ever lost a penny, despite lots of losses being tied up in legal claims that have little chance of winning.
In general I am prepared to give Moneything the benefit of the doubt, their communications have been spot on for some loans. I just kinda wish there was a consistency in quality, one loan in particular sticks out to me which suggests there might not be a happy ending.

I've caught The Times publishing articles with false information on many occasions... It's a shame people trust main stream press.
