Whilst things appear to have gone quiet recently work behind the scenes continues.
I have been reviewing all the PMs that I have received since we started sending letters to MPs. One thing of 'interest' is the different responses that have been received from 'no response' to 'full engagement'.
As noted earlier in this thread it is judged that now is not the correct time for a second letter but there is one thing of value that all investors who have sent the letter can do.
Ensure that the letter was forwarded to the FCA. Some MPs forwarded the letter to the Treasury, others elsewhere. From 'information received' I know that MP's interest is being treated seriously at the FCA so the more MPs that forward the letter the better.
Obvious questions
How do I know if my MP has sent the letter? If your MP sent the letter you will have been asked to give permission for the FCA to 'speak' to the MP as your representative. If you haven't been then your letter wasn't forwarded.
Why bother, we know a standard response will be sent? Yes a standard response will be sent but that is not the point. To send the MPs letter you will have already sent a complaint to the FCA. The 'MPs interest' will be added to your case file which adds weight to your complaint.
The complaints will have to be responded to before the Complaints Commissioner process takes place so anything you can do now will be of value in the future.
So if your MP didn't forward the letter to the FCA please ask them to do it now.
If your MP didn't respond or if your MP changed at the last election (and the casework wasn't passed) over it might be worth sending a new copy of the letter. If you do this please ask your MP to simply forward the letter (minimise their work at this time of chaos).
If you didn't send the letter or have lost your original just drop me a PM and I will get that sorted.
