People are recommending writing to MPs via www.writetothem.com but it specifically says on that site “We block copied and pasted identical messages”. Will the template letter most of us are using be blocked in that case?

You may be lucky & get a reply but if you don't get a response within 2-3 weeks they do seem to react to the writetothem site.

Reply from the Treasury now received by my MP. Basically it is saying my concerns are subject to on-going investigation and given the FCA's operational independence it would not be appropriate for the Government to intervene.

Does this mean it's pointless writing to our MP for support in this matter?

That response is to be expected when an MP contacts another branch of Government but it is a valuable bit of paper which should be made available to the Treasury Committee when they next examine Mr Bailey. Can't say any more at present, I know the FCA read this forum as evidenced by them finding out that Col had gone into Administration from a post 'here'.

Does this mean it's pointless writing to our MP for support in this matter? Absolutely not. When an MP writes to another G'Ment dept this will be the response (my last post). If an MP writes to the FCA it is up to the FCA to respond to the MP who should respond to their constituent. It is notable that nobody has contacted me yet (or posted) that the FCA has responded to a single MP yet. When anybody hears anything back from their MP I will be very interested to see what the FCA have to say.

Same response to my MP from the Treasury - John Glen We should get ready to take up the matter again in 6 weeks time as many of us may well have a new MP.

A very good point and one that has been discussed 'behind the scenes'. Basically ongoing cases will either be continued after the election or will have to be re-started. Returning members can continue the case. Members leaving parliament will probably contact the constituent to offer them the choice of what to do, or to tell them the case is closed. Full details can be seen in Advice for Members and their staff with the interesting sections being 6.1.1, 6.2, 6.4.2, 6.5.1 and 7.16.

When anybody hears anything back from their MP I will be very interested to see what the FCA have to say. Further to my earlier post that demonstrated the even-handedness of the FCA (in that they were taking the p*ss out of both me AND my MP), my MP has observed that the situation is 'very unsatisfactory' and has written to them again noting that since they had my consent to share the case details at the beginning of October, their stated '....aim to provide a response to you as soon as we have received their permission' doesn't seem to have been pursued with much enthusiasm.
I hope she gets re-elected because I'm not sure I can face starting this again. I'm guessing the FCA collectively poured themselves a double when the general election was announced and will try to prevaricate until then. The mass disappearance of a large percentage of sitting MPs will mean they can restart the process of obfuscation from scratch.
