Hi All
There will be a new loan up on the platform later on today. We are just finishing the paperwork and will be sending an email to everyone later today. Its a biggy and will only be up for ten days.
In other news, we have uploaded the latest changes with improvements to the financial accounts section (excel downloads coming soon) and the information on the sliders has changed (shimself, no more 100,000 in units!), along with making the bidding section more prominent. Hope you like it.
Regards Ablrate

Right.....I have dipped a hairy toe in. It's up to Ablrate now (and the comments on this thread) to persuade me that putting more in is a good idea.

I'm concerned that all the loans seem to be to phoenix, meaning that spreading investment doesn't diversify risk, which is after all pretty crucial to P2B investment.

Hi reeknralf Phoenix are our aircraft leasing agents. What lenders are investing in is the transaction. Unlike investing through FC, for example, in multiple loans from one company, this is different. Each aircraft is financed as a separate deal, ring fenced from Phoenix's fortunes. So if something happened to Phoenix (or Ablrate for that matter), the SPV's would still own the aircraft, still and still get the income and the lenders would still have the rights to this. This is why aircraft deals are structured as such, so that financing can be made beyond a company's balance sheet and on the asset and income in a particular deal. Hope that helps. Regards Ablrate

Congratulations on getting £100,000 on the ATR72 loan ablrate. The Cessna loan is building slowly though! I think the banner ad is great on this forum as a starting point but I think you need to open up the throttle to get the Cessna flying. Ablrate, How about getting the banners put on some other relevant sites? Eg Investors Chronicle, FT, Moneysupermarket, Money.co.uk, etc and you may also get some extra media coverage and inclusion in their comparison tables.

We have big announcement on Tuesday that I will post here which you will see will have an effect. All I can say now is the loan is definitely going to close... Also, we have a campaign running on Interactive Investor at the moment which is working well, we will be ramping that up next week when they have a focus on P2P platforms in their news letters etc. They are also featuring us in the 'Great British Business Section'.... and with Lendit coming up on the 17th (where our CEO is speaking and presenting) it will be a business changing few weeks! We look forward to letting you all know the news.... Regards Ablrate

Do we know whether this loan qualifies for 'Instant Returns'? I can't see anything that says it does, so presumably not.
There's no way that this loan will fill prior to draw down, and without 'Instant Returns' even the smallest of loans will struggle.
It's a good concept, a good website, I'm invested myself in the previous loan, but without adequate finance I'm afraid the business is doomed to failure.
What happens if pledges don't reach double figures? Do underwriters step in? If so investors will be reluctant to commit knowing the sales on the after-market will be all but impossible whilst underwriters have 90% left to sell.
Unfortunately it's a vicious circle but without Instant Returns and much smaller loans to start with I'm afraid it will never get off the ground (no pun intended).

What are "Instant Returns"? Can someone direct me to the definition on the web site?
AFAICS the ATR 72 has them and the Cessna does not. What is the difference?

Pretty sure all these transactions are done deals and fully financed. The loans will drawdown as planned and outstanding units get drip fed into SM. Ablrate site is effectively a way for Phoenix to disinvest. Lenders take priority over UW on SM sales

Instant returns mean interest is paid from moment you invest, no drawdown delay. Suspect Cesena doesnt have it because of short auction Crossed with gb007 there. See New Features www.p2pindependentforum.com/post/19220/thread for more discussion

On Ablrate, "Instant Returns" means that you get paid interest from the date of your bid, rather than from the date of draw down. See here for a definition: www.ablrate.com/page/instant-returnsThe ATR loan has the Instant Returns feature and also worth mentioning is its very low LTV at approx 11% (if I've calculated it correctly!)

Hi caratacus I've invested in the ATR 72 loan and did so because it has "Instant Returns" stated quite clearly. "17 month loan at 12%, interest only. The loan is secured by MSN 402 an ATR 72 -202 aircraft. This loan will draw down on the closing date (or sooner) and has the 'Instant Returns' facility for bidders."
Indeed it does. No mention about it for the Cessna Caravan though, so presumably doesn't apply for this one.

I agree with il moro, I suspect there's no Instant Returns feature on the Cessna loan due to the short time until draw down
