PR gives too much power to the least number of people. Take Scotland as an example the greens forced through a Tax rise and other things they wanted as they held the balance of votes. Like the hiatus before the election where there was never going to be a consensus when MPs have their own interests in mind rather than those of the electorate. There is a large asteroid ☄️ on the way that will make climate change and political wrangling a mute point. Taking Scotland as an example, I think their system works miles better than ours! Small parties have some influence under PR - as they should given that they represent millions of people's votes - compared to zero influence under first past the post. It isn't disproportionate - how much was the UK coalition run by the Tories and how much by the Lib Dems? The larger parties always have more more say, whether under PR or FPTP.

But Scotland's government is under performing on so many measures. Education, health etc despite a higher proportion of the public purse.
If they didn't have a single message to cling to they would be seen as poor performing.

Whether the government is a good one and is performing is, I think, different from whether the proportional electoral system in Scotland prevents the government from functioning well and/or improves or worsens the democratic accountability of that government.

The fact that when there is policy that is good as usual there is a them and us attitude where everything the opposition says is wrong and greens take advantage. I found the same as Union Rep for many years senior union officials automatically trashed management suggestions. Fortunately I managed adult compromise which was mutually advantageous. Unions sometimes forget the management have their jobs to do and are not all out to screw the workers. Companies that take the workers along with them end up with more profit and satisfied workers. Greggs today is a good example shareholders and staff shared the success.

I think Boris will ditch FTPA and give Brexit a decade to sink in before risking another GE. By that time Labour will have ripped itself apart and the momentum followers will have reached a age where they can appreciate a less leftist approach to life and will actually see you can’t get everything for free and there is a big bad world outside their social media self congratulating bubble. Godanubis it is impressive that your political comments are just as poorly researched as your comments were on Funding Secure. Perhaps when you become more mature you will appreciate the wisdom of your elders. Just check the statistics for how people’s votes change over their lifetime. Article As to Tory parliament length. link
You may not be a full snowflake but are certainly slushy.

Probably best not to label people, especially with dumb-ass republican words for their opponents. Giving names to people de-humanises them. Just saying....

I'm rapidly approaching the opinion that perhaps we should replace our politicians with AI. Humans are such a shambles.

The longest parliament was 9 and a half years there is no reason to assume it can’t happen again. The term was temporarily extended to 10 years only during World War II, otherwise it's always been 5 years since 1911. And before that 7 years since 1715. yut we can't rule out World World III at this stage I suppose... mrk: very timely. The odds on that went up overnight...quite the prophet.... :-0

Wise words again , AI's have none of the difficulties of self identification and are wise from inception and can only improve add an extra bit of climate control to their environment or put them in space and global warming is no problem.. The singularity is close.

It defines a way of life you may as well remove all descriptors of people and have them fill in a 1000 page questionare before you can
I think the use of Republican (A word rarely used in british conversation ) implies a label being applied by you. Negating your premis.
