.....To be fair in September from when panels installed I exported 69KWh and paid for 1 KWH. 14 September to end of December I generated 360 KWH so 2/3 of my usage I've only generated 20kw so far in January, but weather has been awful. [/quote]
For anyone who's interested, there is a website called pvoutput.com. It allows comparison of your installation with others in your locality and Nationally for that matter. Enter basic details of your system and update daily generation and max power output whenever you have spare time. Useful for highlighting potential inefficiencies.

How far out of "optimal" is it? (and in which direction?) Environmentally, it is optimal to be pointed a little west, so that peak output is closer to 4-5 pm (tho' probably not at this time of year!!) as that is when peak demand is on the grid (so provides most environmental benefit) Brian

@brianc It faces approx. WSW
I have it setup 4 Panels to catch sun early in morning 1 side and 10 on the other
At this time of year it never reaches panels at much more than 45 degrees however in a summer mid afternoon will be beating down on the panels mid September about 13KWH a day. SO I should have 6 months or more better than that.
The Batteries are a great asset too the other night I was charging at < 2P per KWH

I looked in to getting a battery storage device, but the cost didn't seem economical for me. Which battery system do you have, and would you recommend it?

Ace I have a luxe power / pylontech system, I like it cos through the app I can set it to charge overnight and using Octopus Agile ( a dynamic tariff ) I was doing washing, running the dishwasher and charging the battery overnight at 0.46P a unit, OK it doesn't often drop that low but most nights I can get 4P. The downside is the 4-7pm shot when it's often (usually ) over 20P a unit, but I tend to use battery etc then. if battery looks low a swift charge about 2:30... Personally I see dynamic tariffs being the way forward as it will encourage people to switch use to times when electricity is cheaper, and away from the peak. Also for me even without a a battery I would change my behaviour to avoid the peak times, as an example boiling a kettle ( assuming it uses 0.3KWH costs me about 2.5P at 3:50PM but would cost 7P at 4:10PM I'm sure behaviours would change if people could see the difference

I did do a load of washing earlier to utilise "free power" when the sun was out.

Anything extra I generated I'd end up giving away and I can't change my supplier. Hey Ho Brian
