Bobo - The analogy is not correct. I am sceptical of some aspects of the climate change. However I am very very green in many senses, I compost all my waste, I grow my own vegetables, I barely drive, I rarely travel etc. I don't claim I am virtuous or a good person for any of these things. Many people who say the right thing on climate change may often live lives that are in no way aligned with what they say. You don't bail out water by saying "somebody needs to bail this water out", you bail it out by getting a bucket and getting to work. I think it is perfectly fine for me to do a lot of things that people who espouse the importance of climate change as an issue, but for other reasons, and still have a healthy scepticism for some of the claims. The analogy is perfect, that is why we sometimes get sucked into disrespect. I really don't think the analogy is correct. It confuses belief for action. I have action but not belief. Others have belief not action.

I don't mind climate change protesters if the were not ALL Hypocritical They arrive at protests in gass guzzling Hearse etc. Most in branded man made foreign sourced clothes.
The majority smoke or vape. They will go on to produce co2 preducing offspring. Stop breeding that is the solution to all global warming. In a generation the problem would be solved if we had negative population growth.
All this in the country doing the most to reduce co2.
UK will make ZERO impact on global co2 levels. A few forrest fires and occasional volcano is something that naturally occurs andalways will.
Once one of the super volcanos erupts we are all gonners as a nulear type winter will ensue.
The choice to breed is personal. So everyone moaning about climate change don't have kids "Sorted"

I'm not sure most of them even know what they want. A good day out I suspect and a feeling of having a cause. Having a cause in life really helps you to ignore your own failings and self doubts.

Yes that is good for your wellbeing and that is fine as long as others are not impacted by your actions.

So a nice quick localised India V China nuclear war with neutron bombs would do us all a great favour co2 wise

UK will make ZERO impact on global co2 levels. If you look at the cumulative emissions the picture is a bit different of course. But you can keep investing in fossil fuels if you like. I'll invest in green technology, and we'll see in 10 years who made better returns.

Each to their own I have solar panels in a couple of years they will be pure profit but at moment happy trading in fossil fuels at 0.3% - 1% a day and renewables .
Choose the right share and renewables can win . I invest in hydrogen cells they are up a couple of 200%
The not so carbon friendly JD Sports up 800% in 5 years. I would guess their Co2 footprint is huge as fashion requires massive co2 production/

I'll invest in green technology, and we'll see in 10 years who made better returns. Are we really going down the route that I can no longer put my gas stove on because my bad great great great uncle Bert worked 80 hours a week in a coal pit? What are these green technologies you are investing in? Most of the ones I have seen have turned out to be a right scam (out to charge higher fees by being green) or so heavily reliant on government subsidies they are inherently risky (solar power investment schemes etc.). I am sure there will be some companies that do very if they are able to enable countries to meet their carbon targets (whether one agrees with these targets or not). However I won't invest in something because it is or isn't 'green' I will invest because it has a good business case. Companies that emit high Co2 emissions will likely be hammered so hard in at least European economies in the next 20 years that huge swathes of our industries will likely be totally noncompetitive. The UK steel industry is already there. Is the world producing less steel, no, only thing achieved in UK job losses.

Most of them? Give us a list of them..
I've made good money out of solar panels house insulation, led lighting and high efficiency petrol engines along with wind power and biodigesters ( though green is less clear here ).
I've worked as well as invested in some of these industries and am just bemused by some of the views here.
I've taken part in MOOCs to understand CC and frankly The Daily Mail or Telegraph is not a good place to research much.
The science is clear. All the, "but I know better", is amusing but please stop bailing in. If nothing else do a MOOC the one from Illinois-Champagne is a good one.
