I joined wellesley in April and lodged my bank account details with them (just checked the confirmation e-mail). Not liking the new rates I have decided to make a first, modest withdrawal. To my surprise I get an e-mail which does seem to be from W&C asking for my bank details all over again. I cannot figure out why they would ask for information they should already have. I am trying to get to the bottom of this at the moment. Anyone else has issues with this sort of thing?

Having said that, I don't think I gave Wellesley my bank details when I first signed up. I don't remember them asking for them at that time. My sign-up confirmation e-mail (from March) has their bank account details in it but not mine. It just says you need to use an account that is in your name. So, in my case at least, they were asking for information they didn't have.

I think you are probably correct. Probably "phishing paranoia" on my part. In fairness to W&C their response has been quick and correct. It still however, seems an odd way of doing it in these days of internet fraud

Your account details are effectively 'public' since name, A/C number and Sort Code are printed on cheques (remember those?).
Wellesley have an odd system, they indicate withdrawals will be to the a/c used to make deposits, but they do ask for Bank Details before the first withdrawal. These are then hidden from view so could be be problematic if you make a withdrawal, change banks and request a further withdrawal.
As with all new organisations I made a small deposit and an immediate withdrawal to test the system.

As with davee39, I did a trial withdrawal when setting up and Wellesley quoted the T&C at me when I raised this, apparently they'll join up their payment systems in the future but obviously not yet...
