Apart from Xmas cards, I doubt I use half a dozen stamps a year.

Nothing this year (presumably took advantage of the news being Brexit/Trump/Covid ...)

I did mention it here (obliquely) several weeks ago when, at my second attempt, I reckoned that the profit would be 11.8%.
I didn't fancy venturing out to buy a pack of cards, nor did I want to buy a number of singles at high prices for not very much, so I used up a few left-overs from the previous Christmas and sent emails to other recipients.
It is possible to buy current stamps at huge discounts on-line - I've just noted 99 first-class stamps with a face value of £85 going for £25.99.

That has to be a scam of some kind.

That has to be a scam of some kind. Possibly stamps that have been used but not franked . I think it might be illegal to use them again but it might not be illegal to sell them - to "collectors" of course.

Cut-price stamps are being sold by reputable vendors on eBay and elsewhere.
No, I don't understand how they do it, though I do know of sheets of not-so-recent "QIIE GB" stamps being sold at under face value for postage. They've usually been bought as investments, though why anyone nowadays should think they would be, I don't know.
Back in 1966 England won the football World Cup and the Post Office produced a 4d "England Winners 1966" stamp. There was panic buying. The main post office in Sidmouth would only sell me around a dozen, so I dashed down to a sub-post office where I was allowed to buy a complete sheet.
Nowadays I can't sell a single copy for 10p.

Quite a bit of media coverage today about postal "black spots" where Covid has caused delays with mail deliveries. Sometimes I use several "old" postage stamps to make up second-class postage which fools the electronic sorting to send it first-class. Thus it was yesterday when I posted a letter to an address three hundred miles away. Stated collection time on the box was 1700, it had arrived by 1500 today.
(By "old" I do NOT mean stamps that have already been used but mint stamps dating back over the decades. Many are from my collection and some, of 12p or so face value, would have paid for a first-class service when first issued.)

Some comments that some of the brand new stamps are forgeries, I've never bought any so haven't had a good look at any of them. Unfranked are usually ones that didn't get heavily franked and may have been cleaned if necessary, to look more or less new, possibly a bit risky to buy. The new (well not very new now) self adhesive stamps are really difficult to get off paper (I have tried for ones I wanted for a collection) I don't know how they do it in bulk! You can usually buy 'proper' books of stamps in COSTCO at a discount, but in something like a dozen books. I guess some people buy these and sell on for a small profit. It's been a while since I've gone into COSTCO and I don't remember what the margin was, but I did buy a job lot a few years ago when I needed a lot of stamps for business.

We had a couple of 2nd class that had somehow got a bit cosy together in the little booklet - after too many minutes trying to pick them apart, I gave up and just binned what was left of them.

I still have one left out of the bucket of 12 bought about 6 years ago. I've recently bought 12 more - they'll probably last until the end of this decade.

That has to be a scam of some kind. I guess it's not too difficult to take a pic, edit and print them out
