adrianc , I imagine the OP unleashed a charm offensive of such irresistible and withering erudition that the miscreants could only capitulate. I think Adrian has hacked your account Berny. Must admit I was as intrigued as the next guy - glad we got the gist of it in the end.

"long story short" the full story is police lies, cover up and the police commissioner asking me for names, dates etc to actually find out who was taking the cash. needless to say, having tried, i have not heard a dicky bird about this since. edit.. i did find out during early conversations that the original investigation was in relation to shotgun theft.

reminds me of a lot of organisations, the "elite" get what they want, the rest struggle to get what they need.

Lies, cover up and now shotgun theft (assuming you mean stolen out of police custody?). This sounds too serious to let slide. Might a journalist or your MP be interested in taking this up?

Speaking from a recent experience, my encounter with the police after being burgled and having my car stolen was nothing less than a joke.. long story short.. i was conned out of £150 by the police, for agreeing to help with their enquiries, i got my 150 back, and an apology, after writing a letter to both the crime commissioner and the chief inspector. Personally i have very little faith in policing today, and feel lucky that I'm a man. edited text and title. You were hardly CONNED out of anything . The Police tried to obtain evidence and you were caught up an in admin error in the Police compound process and you got your money back and an apology
What more do you want other than to smear all the hard working officers with a brush of corruption.
Have you never made an admin mistake in your employment as you come across as a moaner and attention seeker

i most certainly was.. when an officer asks you if they can retain your car for evidence, ask you to deliver the spare keys so they can get it to their compound, and then force you to pay £150 to get your car back .... in my book thats a con. Its generally people like you with your "Let the police do as they like" attitude that has created the distinct atmosphere of mistrust that now exists.
