It seems to me that loans much under £1000 are too much of a scramble, and maybe cause too much work to MT for their value, and these can only increase as more people divert cash to MT. Therefore maybe we could have several kinds of maganed fortpolio: 1. £10,000 in tiddlers < £200 items max initial bid £100 2. £20,000 in bigger £200-£500 items max initial bid £250 3. £20,000 in gold £200-£500 items maxs initial bid £250 4. £20,000 other valuables initial bid £250 5. £25,000 items £500-£999 , initial bid £250 Items over £1000 to be listed individually - with an appropriate initial bid limit. Listings could start at 10:00 or 16:00 or 20:00 by rotation. A prominent note could be added to the preview of the 19:00 portfolios (and to the email notification) that lenders should fund their accounts before 17:00 (or whatever) to be sure of participating.
edit: took ages to think about and write so didn't see the last few posts
edit again: where I wrote "items" please read "loans".
oldgrumpy - that could just work. I originally thought the plane and the couple of cars would have soaked up some funds and indeed they did but it still didn't slow down the scrum. So no doubt there will be more than the odd disappointed lender/investor here and there which doesn't help MT. Okay - only three hours in but so far it's 23 - 0 for the Managed Portfolio so it's seems reasonable to assume that most folks prefer the more orderly approach and of course it's only forum members that visit frequently that are voting. I suspect many others are just casual on and off readers as time permits. Anyway, just an interesting poll experiment and up to MoneyThing as to how they run their business onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

Touch the grey box to the left. Touch again to unvote. Oldnick, thanks for your help but I can't see a grey box?

Click where the green tick is in the image for 'managed portfolio' (or maganed fortpolio, according to some lesser primates). You'll get a gold star for working out where to click to vote for 'smaller items'.

The grey box isn't really a grey box, it's white with a very thin grey/black line round it depending on your screen resolution/ device it might be quite hard to see, try just clicking to the left of the word 'Managed' or 'Smaller' and it should magically insert a 'tick' and you'll see the results. Here's the embarrassed smilie .............. . In Edit, no wonder I voted for Managed, X posted with pepperpot, and he even managed a fancy picture too!

Ladies, ladies, I'll have you know that I have an annoyingly light touch on the keyboard, not thrumping it like a 1940s Underwood typewriter. This leads to multiple letters being omitted and I have to go back to put them in. Dsylxeci arrebatoins are usaully lediberate just to wnid poelep pu.

MoneyThing - I know the poll is only 4 hours or so old but as it's 28 - 0 I would be interested in knowing the thoughts of Ed at this stage. Ed - are you there?

Afternoon,
Thank you for instigating the poll. It does appear to be a bit of a land-slide victory for the Managed Portfolio's, although I am a little surprised that nobody likes the 'tiddlers' if only to see the pictures of some of the things borrowers pawn.
I do however fully understand and I think by all accounts the 'tiddlers' have served their purpose now having allowing investors to understand the MoneyThing business model and be able to test the waters by investing in a small loan with a short loan term left to see the whole life-cycle of a loan. (I would suggest that it would have been a more tentative start for investors had we launched with the MPs - would you agree?).
I very much like oldgrumpy's suggestion on potential route forwards and will be happy to explore this.
Thank you everyone again in your continued help & support in shaping the MoneyThing platform/proposition.
Kind regards,
Ed
