I like the simplicity of RS login. I don't use mobile authentication. My thoughts
If for someone the risk is to have just one password, multiple layers will not help either. To layman its just multiple words written on sticky note attached to screen. Although random code via mobile may help.
If someone is worried about it then: use supercomplicated unique password like 128 random non-alphanumeric characters.
Nobody will verify if the answer to your secret question makes sense, so: date of birth/first car/favourite pet can be the same answer like '&^(GHY^42&$FU((*%23$FKPO_|"}_7&GNLO)ES9432AUY&^%'
Have strong password for your computer and encrypt the hard drive.
Managing passwords is a pain. I use KeePass for that as it is impossible to keep up with all of them.

I thought that hard drive encryption was really only for professionals. I haven't looked at that for years though, so any recommendations for a good programme? How do you rate a BIOS password or is that just another yellow sticky on the screen too?

I have used it on laptops for the last few years. (I imagine that my laptop might get stolen or lost.) Certainly worth considering. Make sure you have a good backup strategy.
