Wow, that changed quick! Lending rate back at 5.8%! There was over £2M available earlier at 5.8 and below. Crazy. Glad I held out.

And now my money has been matched at 5.9. Almost a 5 figure sum. Didn't expect to see my 5.9 to be met any time soon after it was down at 4.4 earlier with 2.3M ahead of me. Crazy people lending too cheap!

So much for my crystal spheres earlier today (not allowed to say b*lls any more ). I might have been tempted to transfer from "rolling" for 5.9%, but there's £200K been wanged in already, so I put a bit in at 5.8% - a bit low really but ...

Bizarre goings on. Would be interested to know what's occurring!
Is it like a stock where it's 'driven down' to fill an order??

...and back to 4.7%. More fun than a boxing day sale that was.

Kevin can (but maybe won't) confirm but it appears one of the large brokers or commercial loans (web site says they may lend up to £2million to any one lender) needed fulfillment yeasterday, hence the c.8,000 matches yesterday. There have been a few (4/5?) occurances in the last month or two of 6,000+ matches in a day when the rate started sub 5% and reached 6% because of it.

I was watching and there was a £1M loan and another probably £300k lent quite close together, so they matched all up to quite a large amount

I dont visit here very much but I have a little "invest and forget" money with RS. It seems to be so volatile now and you could invest at dreadful rates for a very long time if not careful. When is it all going to calm down ?

When is it all going to calm down ? I don't think it will change. I think we'll continue to see a large spread of rates, in fact I expect it will increase. Particularly as Ratesetter are planning to increase the number of commercial loans vs personal loans. I assume the commercial loans will be materially larger than the personal loans on average and this will increase the spread of rates They now have a regional sales force to source the commercial loans so I expect they will ramp up the number of commercial loans quite quickly.

5 year market rate down at 3.8%! Even the 1 year rate is higher at 3.9. Why would anyone tie their money up for 5 years at this rate?
