I had no problem and felt it was a positive message from someone I had lent to. I get similar from other organisations and I see it is due diligence fodder. I see no reason to be upset. How would you feel though if you had received unsolicited marketing messages from businesses you hadn't lent to?! For example, if you didn't invest in the recent Football Stadium loan, you wouldn't then expect to be receiving marketing/promotional messages from the football club who play there! ...and I think that's the point; the issue isn't that MT sent today's email to investors in D***** F*** W*** - the issue was that they sent it to ALL MT investors (including those who chose not to invest in D***** F*** W***)

Thank you for the information on discount wine. I doubt I will be availing myself of the offer, but was pleased to receive it. It should have been more prominently displayed that it was MT who had sent it on behalf of the company in which I had invested, to honour an offer which was made before the loan was launched. (edit) Whether it should have been sent to non-investors is another matter; as it is available, maybe they should have been made aware of the offer briefly as part of a general newsletter. I look forward to lending money to a number of breweries in Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Herefordshire* with offers to supply me with ale at a price lower than I already get from Aldi, Asda, Morrison's etc. *edit and Devon and Dorset .

I would of thought it might be of interest to those not in the loan as some might appear on the sm (I've only seen a small amount once so far *). Anyone joining the platform recently might not be aware of this loan. An opt in/out is the best solution going forward. * Yes, added to my existing holding

I decided however that Asda still offered the better deal overall.

I might not welcome all communications, but I don't get hot under the collar over it as I'm not forced to read everything received. It's a distorted logic, IMO, to equate non-participation in a loan with an assumed dislike for the borrowers product. Why should any lack of expectation preclude pleasure being taken in the receipt of an offer? Supporters of the club in question might not view the loan positively but might well welcome a discount on a season ticket. It might be considered somewhat selfish if the desire of those wishing to be shielded from the evil of 'marketing' had prevented non-participants in the wine loan from potentially benefiting from an offer extended to all MT lenders. Mind you, if anyone knows how I can prevent Ray Winston from invading my personal space every time I watch sport........

Thanks for the loan update MoneyThing , i only have £100 invested in these loans, but the update is better than a combination of all the updates I have ever received from another platform where I have a hefty five figure sum invested (excluding decimals ) so for me, its well received. And on top of that, they have come good with the promise of discounted wine, even if you aren't invested in the loan.... I wont use it, but i've shared it with one or two friends who may

And the email was most definitely from MT, and not the borrower.... the big clue to that was in the sender name.

I have to say that I am quite happy to receive some info from a business that I have invested money in. Good to see they are promoting themselves professionally. However this may be annoying if you don't want to receive marketing emails. Will be good to be able to specify email preferences with MT in the future.

We must be a very bored bunch if individuals. 2 pages of posts generated after being offered a discounted purchase of sparkling wine. I bet if A free bottle had been offered to each MT investor there wouldn't have been a negative peep.

I never received the email at all... Good job I recently bought lots of wine so I'm all stocked up, ironically this was at the end of a 'free' wine tasting evening.

Various questions above; I would feel pretty positive to know that business that I either had or might yet invest in was doing this offer. I do get enough spam, but I don't count this as spam, this is post investment due dilegence stuff. My view is that with the internet there is more data and there is more data movement. So the upside is that I can find out if the director has previous "issues" from my home in the woods AND I can get great info of the direction of an interesting business. I'd chill man, all good Yogi.

Is anyone else annoyed with receiving the D**** marketing email when you have not requested marketing material to be sent to you. This is very poor for an investment company. Email is push, but pull solutions in the form of a web site list of promotions is possible instead. Since that requires an explicit act of going to look it's a possible approach to making all aware of such things without use of email.
