There was an email sent out this morning about these renewals. My account was only approved this afternoon, around 2:30. I'd assume that's why I never got the email. Will I be able to log on at 4pm tomorrow and invest or should I just wait for a new loan? You can bid. They can be viewed on the Pipeline tab.

Another new member question prior to signing up (I can hear the sighs from existing members - further dilution). A username is required for sign up but is this public (displayed on SM, for example) or private (just used for signing in rather than your email address)?

A username is required for sign up but is this public (displayed on SM, for example) or private (just used for signing in rather than your email address)? It appears on the recent investments list but asterixed out so only first & last chracters show, and only for as long as it is in the last 10 investments. Thats the only public appearance so no worries there

Well a bit of a poor start to my MT investing plan. I forgot to transfer money into my account last night, then thought I'll do it before work, then got up late! I should of been home for about 4pm so still time to move money and invest, 4pm turned into 4:30pm!
Anyway I logged on an there was / loans still available, I moved money in and a few moments later bought my 1st 2 loans!
I then moved more money in ready for tomorrow.
The system used to deposit money is easy and straight forward to use, money takes a few minutes to arrive, not like another P2P site, which doesn't happen until the next working day.
My first experience have been great!
I wasn't to keen on the £25 bid limit, but it's a level playing field for everyone, so it's not that bad. It's there to give everyone a chance to get in on the action, so can't really complain.
Thanks for all the advice and replies guy and gals!

Thanks for all the advice and replies guy and gals! Wait until a new loan is due to go live and fund your account in advance, there is always plenty to pick at on the secondary market prior to a new large loan going live, you can soon build up a diversified portfolio if you have a bit of time to start with.

Personally I keep a small (1% of total, roughly) 'float' in my account all the time (or try to) so I can leap on anything I see on the SM quickly. Things on the secondary market usually don't hang around long enough to do a bank transfer, even at MT's lightning speeds. Once I've spent it, I either send more, or else sell something (which if often even faster than sending new money). The purists will point out I have 1% of my money earning nowt, but frankly I've got quite a bit in bank accounts earning about that, so 'never mind'.
p.s. On SS you don't need to, you can 'buy first raise the funds later', but as some will have discovered in the last two days selling WHAT you want WHEN you want is not guaranteed, and going 'into the red' limits your sale options too, so I try to keep a small positive float there as well.

I'm not really interested in the SM on either MT or SS, I prefare to have my money tied up aslong as possible and normally you don't get that with the SM, plus working all day and family at home means I can't be sat in front of a computer for ages waiting for something to pop up.
I never really keep a float in SS because you don't have to, but it's a good idea on here. I'm quite often in the red on SS, I am now to the tune of £1,300. I have £1,300 worth of loan parts I want shut off so I'll sell them after mid night.
My strategy there will be the same as here. Get to my target amount of money loaned out (roughly £5k), then slowly sell shorter term loan parts as and when a longer term comes up, I aim for 12% interest.
With 12% loans starting to become a thing of the past in SS, I may slowly move that money into MT to stay with the 12%.

Woke up early morning 4am, had a look and there was lots on the SM, nearly a screen of green on big desktop monitor. No one around, if I had the funds I could have picked up more.
Then back to bed happy with the little added to MT from the SM. All but one gone when I looked this morning which I can't add due to bid limit, expect others have hit the bid limit on those renewed yesterday.
