Saw a report about rare books being stolen at the end of January en route to an antiques book function in the states. Has anyone, who saw the report before me, already asked fs if the Italian books are safe?
I have asked the question already. Will post when I have an answer unless the borrower/ fs answer first.

Didn't see the report in the Mail but presumably they would be insured??

I would also be disapointed if this was one that was lent again FS had not sent a message out yet stating this. Even if message was only to say it had been stolen and more information to follow.

I dont believe this collateral was involved. Several books including one by Copernicus were taken from a large quantity of antique books being transported to America. They were in a "secure" warehouse. The report states that the thieves broke through a skylight and abseiled in. They broke into several containers.

I thought fundingsecure told us early on that they wouldn't be taking possession of the books but that they would be stored in a specialist storage facility equipped with appropriate temperature/humidity/security controls. Am I misremembering?

If the rich owner was that concerned that squaters living below the facility then he could have offered them help.
Why expect local officials to remove them due to mental health issues?
I am sure his insurers may ask many questions in order to avoid paying out.
I also feel sadness at the loss of historical documents or other artifacts that show evidence of original thoughts and artisanal activities.
