To repeat, this is just one data point, but perhaps an interesting one.........
* I live in London, not "prime", but not half bad either.
My lodger left at the end of May. It's taken me a while to get it together but I started "properly" looking for a replacement in the middle of last week. I signed up to a site that specialises in matching people who have a room with those who want one. It's called "spareroom.co.uk". They hosted a "speed flatmate" night tonight near me and I went along. Apparently the ratio of people with rooms to rent to those looking to rent normally sits quite happily in a 45-55 range (roughly balanced around the mid-point). Tonight, the first time I've attended, it was more like 25-1 those with rooms / those looking for them. A one off data point? Sure. And outlier, possibly. Interesting? Perhaps.
I'll attend next week and report back.

I didn't get to go last week, but apparently the numbers were much better - 29 offered, 25 wanted, so it looks like the week I did go was very anomalous. I think this is probably good news.....

One conclusion could be, if you are there the lodgers run a mile.
