think its meant to be calming Humph - garumph - grrrr - snarl - scream - wail - ....... etc Just had another look to see if I am over reacting - and this time it looked even worse and made me even crosser (much much less calm) than it did before. I then switched back to the old site and my sense of calm returned - arrr - that's beter OS - please please please do not compete with RS to see who can have the most purple website othertwise I will have to take some tablets every time I sign in - and I do not like taking tablets so perhaps I should take my money elsewhere. Humph - garumph - grrrr - snarl - scream - wail - ....... etc

Purple ink is very useful in the world of the Octopus, I believe. Ar yes - it scares away enemies - very useful. However I would have thought that this particular octopus would want to attract friends - aka customers - no? Humph - garumph - grrrr - snarl - scream - wail - gnash gnash gnash gnash (...... if not obvious that is the sound of a very dissatisfied customer)

I'm not a fan of it either,it's very bright. Luckily it's a hands off platform which means I won't have to keep reaching for my sunglasses

Hi guys. As always, we appreciate the feedback! Our new design and layout (and colour scheme!) went through extensive user testing to try and make it as user friendly as possible. For example, including more information on your investment, and making it even easier to navigate around the dashboard. Of course, there's always more to be done, and clearly ways we can improve. So, this has all been fed back to our design team For the timebeing, those that are not intending to open an ISA are able to continue using our old layout.

I guess purple is a 'marmite' thing, you either love it or hate it. Perhaps the haters are a minority of the population, I guess we must be otherwise it would not be so common. I do not object to small amounts of purple, as on the old OC site, or AC, I hate overdone purple, like RS and the new OC. Hmmm - marmite - there is an idea! Perhaps if I smeared marmite on my screen and/or my glasses the new OC site would look better. Yes, I am quite sure that it would.

I don't think it's the purple that is the problem per se, more a series of lousy design choices. purple? OK, but do not have critical information just a couple of shades lighter purple, it doesn't show up. I'd say the same if it were blue, or red. The ISA application page is so hard to navigate I had to ask about it here: p2pindependentforum.com/post/208380/threadI cannot see how a design goal was it to be 'more userfriendly' as invisible text entry boxes, and almost unreadable text seems totally 180 degrees opposite that design paradigm.

OK, but do not have critical information just a couple of shades lighter purple, it doesn't show up. I'd say the same if it were blue, or red. Agreed. It's largely about contrast, although the colour is also significant with some forms of colour blindness more common than others. It might also be considered an age thing: those bright young things doing the design still have their eagle eyes in, but some of us have been a few times round the block and would appreciate a little consideration. Or do we have to invoke the disability provisions of the Equality Act?

octopusjoe, I really think the purple on your landing page is a bit bright. Stings the eyes. No malice intended, just honest feedback from one platform rep to another.

Thanks again, all, for your feedback on the new layout – well, except charles (just kidding ). You've made some really good points. As you can imagine, we went through extensive levels of user testing, but clearly we still have plenty to learn! We're constantly working to improve Octopus Choice, and I have passed this all on to the team.

Well I see that the former test site, aka the purle horror, is now live.
How fortunate that I can run my account virtually hands off - or should that be eyes off.
I suppose the problem is basically mine as no one else seems to be too bothered by the horrible, garish, puke indicing, headache causing, mood changing (for the worse), eye stinging colour of this damn site.
I signed on for the first lime in a long time to look into creating an ISA. Well as you can imagine I did not get very far before hitting the 'log off' button in disgust.
