Morocco beat Spain in penalty shoot out.
Is it possible that we have seen a country worse than England at taking penalties?

This sounds like alchemy and too good to be true! If the heat energy coming out really can exceed "the modest electrical energy consumed", why aren't we distributing wet washing in every room and heating our houses with dehumidifiers? This sceptic will take some persuading I have seen some people describe a dehumidifier as similar to a fridge but to much science for me - but i believe and stand to be corrected that the damp air going into a humidifier is cooled to remove the moisture via condensation and then moved across another coil to warm back up to the approx room temperature it was when it entered the unit but now minus the water. We we first start ours the air coming out the back is cool but after a while it will become mildly warm but not hot (if it become very hot i would worry and also check the HEPA filter at the back is clear) But you are right you probably cannot replace a heating system with One in every room as while The net effect is a warmer room/home they are probably not going to replace your CH in mid winter Most good Ones also have a anti-frost/freeze warning light or switch if the unit is running to cold as they need some level of heat to run correctly but i have never had one freeze yet I had one back in the 80's. As I recall very cold liquid is pumped through coils at the back and this causes moisture in the air to condense and freeze on the outside of the coils. Then warm liquid gets pumped through the coils and the frozen condensate melts and drips into the collection bin. Got rid of it when I had double glazing and cavity wall insulation installed.
I'm far too lazy to mess around when drying cloths. I set the washer / dryer to iron dry (which doesn't take a lot longer than just wash), and when it comes out damp I hang it up in the living room for 30 minutes and it's dry.

Sky news reporting that Scottish strippers in Edinburgh are unhappy with proposed legislation that would ban sexual entertainment venues. A judicial review has been launched by 3 affected clubs and the sex workers union.
Can't wait to see the picket lines.

The elementary physics I learnt at school a long time ago suggests that the energy output (heat) should greatly exceed the energy input (electricity) due to the release of latent energy, so if the laundry room is otherwise heated by your central heating it will be very economical, plus the moisture will be tipped down the drain rather than condensing on any cold surface. If the capital outlay is less of a consideration then my advice is go for it. I thought it wasn't heated, that's what's causing the problem.
PS: where does the latent energy come from that allows output to exceed input?

Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Tumble dryer, heated towel rail, iron, Kettle, toaster TV even on standby some use 20 Watts, Games consoles, TV boxes ( SKY Q is apparently particularly bad ) I suppose it depends on what you are using overall and how you heat the home and cook. as an example, most days I'm below 5kWh and that's me being pretty frugal, I have friends who think with gas heating and hob that 20kWh a day is reasonableI currently use about 18 kwhr at night (storage heater and immersion heater) and about 4 kwhr during the day. That equates to about £5 / day, or £800 over the 6 winter months. Government pays £400 and I pay £400.
I looked at the saving associated with running the washing machine and dish washer at night, but it was more trouble than it was worth. The 3 things to avoid during the day are:
- Using the big oven (my microwave has a grill and convection oven, so that gets most use)
- Heating the water for a bath
- The storage heater has a convection heater built in, and using it to top up the heating on very cold days sends the meter into overdrive (not normally needed though).

e-Scooters are regulated, they are banned from use on anything but private land. from what I see even at the current low rate of use 1 person per month is killed riding them, and the average cost of hospital treatment after an accident is £1,000. Local Police have told one of my neighbours they are not allowed to chase them even on foot, and they can't do anything if the person isn't actually riding it. Just checked a couple of countries (US and Germany) and seems they are both very popular and legal there. I saw them being used in eastern and central europe recently. God knows how here we not only forbid them but they are equated with criminality and high hospital bills. I call it misserableness. Seems to me a person not driving to work but getting on his e-scooter is a person considerably reducing his pollution and having fun in the process. Maybe we just have higher health and safety standards than Eastern European countries?

E-scooter rider, 22, who broke her leg when she hit pothole while riding on road illegally sues council for £30,000
I've got mixed feelings about this one, since I hate potholes and want to see councils fined for not fixing them, but also want to see people doing illegal things get punished.
I assume that when a Council carries out an assessment of what type of road repairs are required, they base it on the assumption of the highway being used by transportation that is legally entitled to use the road. It's possible that the offending pot hole could have been small enough to not pose an issue with cars or cycles, but was a problem with the very small wheels on an e-scooter. I also note that the complainant (who was wearing a helmet, but no other PPE) said she couldn't see the pothole because it was dark. I'm suprised it wasn't illuminated by the lights on the scooter.
Is this a no win no fee case, or does somebody risk having to pay costs if the case fails?

Let's hope that the Senegal defence on Sunday is as disorganised as their parliment.

Go your own way ..... 79 years old. Writer and singer of music that will be listened to for many more years to come. One of her most famous songs was taken up as an anthem by many P2P platforms - ' tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies (tell me lies, tell me, tell me lies)'
