It used to be a very famous pub where everyone went for the "craic"- live music. I once shared a piss-stone there with the late Richard Harris...

Dear fundingsecurecould you (going forward) refrain from starting loan descriptions with "generic" descriptors? e..g. "Property Loan - C******* - Increase in borrowing" I have a little routine in my spreadsheet which calculates my overall exposure to various loans/tranches based on the first two words in the description. This works very well for most loans, except for these (pointless, imho) generic descriptors. So the above would be better described as "C******* two properties - Increase in borrowing" Another is "Development Plot, C******* - Renewal" which might be better listed as "C******* Development Plot, - Renewal" Or better still, please always start the description with the street NAME, or development NAME, as you do in fact do for the vast majority of loans... Thank-you

Formby ain't Liverpool. If it was in the south it'd be Surrey. A quiet dormitory town with quick rail connection to the city centre. Lawyers, doctors, accountants, footballers, beach, pinewoods, red squirrels, natterjack toads, Tory councillors (another endangered species on Merseyside)... www.allertonoak.net/merseySights/OutlyingAreasHA.html

Solicitorous, I don't seem to have permissions on that link... All, So am I right in thinking I would be liable for double taxation? Income and cgt on the same amount? "You may not have to declare it.. " I would rather not have to... Don't know why you're not getting the link. Here's the relevant post with the HMRC link explaining what I was trying to say... 4. If you resell via the SM a loan purchased on the SM from a non-ISA account you are creating a chargeable capital gain that can be offset against the annual CGT allowance (currently £11,300 pa). But unless you are close to the annual CGT limit you don't need to worry about this - only have to declare CGT data on self assessment if over the limit. Or if your total sales of capital assets, including anything both bought and sold on, for example, the FS SM, exceed 4 * the annual allowance, which equals £45,200 for the current tax year. [Applies if you are registered for Self-Assessment - not sure of the position if you're not !] www.gov.uk/capital-gains-tax/work-out-need-to-pay

It’s no longer a simple debt and gains become taxable, IIRC And you have an annual CGT allowance to offset against such taxable gains... You may not even have to declare it, if the gains are under the limit. Or you might have to, depending on other capital disposals you may have made that year. p2pindependentforum.com/post/250894

I for one support the current approach. The ones on the front page should be the ones people are most interested in (whether or not they are good or bad). It's not for a forum to start promoting different platforms based on its own subjective views. But it's an arbitrary list of 10 based entirely on alleged "clicks" on a public forum... I was not aware of this myself until yesterday, and I consider myself a long-standing forum user and P2P investor. I had not really thought about it deeply, but "assumed" it was based somehow on real-world "size" of the platform or somesuch. As the OP states, people could be mislead into believing these are the "Top 10" P2P platforms by some supposedly useful, credible, verifiable benchmark. They're the Top 10 of nothing very tangible at all, as it turns out...

Maybe there's a technical solution?
Is it not possible for code somehow to allow users to self-select the sites [up to 10] that they wish to have easy access to on the main page?
Kind of "pinning" their preferred sites?

ablrate Me too. There was also a bug last night, A huge bell graphic dominating the page for the new loan, and no way to invest... Logging out or going to the home page and logging-in again solved both problems. Please take a look and try to rectify these (admittedly) minor problems instead of dissing your investors...

Possibly someone (a competitor?) noticed the lapse and tipped-off the FCA, who brought the curtain down on them?
"Why has this happened?
The Company was operating in the belief that it was authorised and regulated by the
Financial Conduct Authority under interim permission. It has transpired that this is not the
case and consequently the Company has ceased lending."
Begs a lot of questions, imho....

Even if there is no scope for manipulation [of which I remain unconvinced the possibility does not exist], it's still an entirely ARBITRARY decision. Who decides the cutoff for promotion to the main page? Why not 5 sites instead of 10? Why not 15?
This isn't a football league or "Opportunity Knocks!" based on some dodgy clap-o-meter....
The whole concept of "promotion" is just WRONG, imho.

Suggest you look at the Quarterly Forum Usage Statistics thread on the Forum Feedback board Suggestions are always welcome, but I'd prefer an unambiguous answer... SteveT 's just beaten me to it, but here's the link to those quarterly stats - very broadly speaking its... based loosely on... I see. Perhaps a re-think is in order, based on er, something more tangible and robust, like longevity and track-record of management, etc., rather than just some form of "worm", manipulated potentially by god knows who ?

As a matter of interest and urgency - in the light of current events - could the MODS share with us the criteria used in the decision to "promote" [a word I use advisedly] a platform to the main page, and retain it there?
I believe COL is the most recent platform to be added...
