For those of you who missed it - this is how I surmise this endurance/speedboat loan will progress adrian77: Was the above an attempt at humour? Or is there some sort of link missing?

I have contacted T*** B******* for an update on this project & the reasons for the delay. Am I allowed to post the response on this forum? You can post a reply IFF you make sure it does not ID the asset or the borrower in any way shape or form (and ideally you might want to avoid libelling anyone!). I redacted the name since that gives away (I suspect, not being active in this loan) more information than the forum rules allow. You also have to consider copyright, &/or whatever secrecy rules they might request when replying (if they do).

Thank you for the clarification.
This is the update received by e-mail when I asked about reasons for the delays etc:
Yes, indeed. The project unexpectedly grew a lot bigger, and
therefore so did the demands placed upon it. This includes the
scientific side which wasn't initially envisaged in the form which it
is now taking, but which we feel will add greater depth and prestige
to the project, particularly with the current extensive media
coverage given to the problem of plastic pollution in the oceans. We
are in the latter stages of talks with a title sponsor, and we're
confident everything else will slot into place once the boat is in
the water in all her glory, which I believe Alan is expecting to
happen mid-February. The first sea trials will commence as soon as
possible once the build is signed off by the surveyor. We anticipate
the circumnavigation record attempt itself to take place in October
2018, but we will be setting or breaking a number of records before
then in order to iron out any wrinkles with both boat and crew.
Best wishes,
C****

the above was from the first loan listing and now we have
well I am speechless that we are going to be a year behind and this boat has not even been signed-off yet!
Of course I wish this team well but this is a highly technical and ambitious project fraught with risks so not exactly what I regard as a secure asset!
I really can't see this one doing anything but hitting massive cash-flow problems...

I sold out of this loan once the powerboat loan was suspended as I could see it going the same way - underwater. Unfortunately I'm still stuck with the powerboat. Memo to self - do not invest in any more boat loans.

'Normal' boats such as the 30k loan on the sailing yacht today are a completely different commodity to endurance boats ... probably unfair to tarnish them all with the same brush

The quote of your posting at the top of this one is all I see. (I see just one line, and there's no part of it I can hover over that indicates there's a link I could follow.) Where is the link supposed to be? If my Firefox isn't showing all that's supposed to be there it will be the first time I've seen that happen.

My Firefox (version 52.5.0) shows a picture of a speed boat that is a clickable Twitter link to a video of a crashing speedboat. Not ours: this was merely some humour. But it may be worth checking your adblockers to see what else you might be missing.

I have seen that video before so I am happy to avoid any potential advertising!

I've viewed this thread Using Internet Explorer -- which I rarely use -- and it shows the picture and the link. Most of my Firefox add-ons, and that included a flash blocker, were incompatible with the latest Firefox incarnation, so I'm not knowingly using an adblocker at this time, but I think I read somewhere that Firefox does some filtering of its own. I prefer ad and flash blockers that leave an empty box as a placeholder because at least that way I know when I'm missing something.

"The race date has been postponed to October 2018. We have had two meetings with the team within the last month and have visited the location where the boat is being built. We are waiting for an updated valuation prior to issuing a comprehensive update."
I think FS are looking to roll-up the interest, not for the first time on the platform.

Thanks for that info...which reminds me to ask ..I have the box ticked on My Details to receive emails regarding updates.. "If this is selected, you will receive email updates about the loans you have invested in."As I am an investor in this particular loan, should I have received an email informing me that there was an update (at the time of this post..33minutes ago)..I only became aware of it by opening the forum and seeing your thread (and then confirming it by looking at My Investments). I do receive mails informing of new loans, activated and finished loans etc but ive never received an update on an existing loan. Enquiring through live chat this morning I was assured that I should (I have reset and updated the ticked box twice)..thanks

FS only rarely send emails in connection with a loan update, for example where there is sensitive information that they don’t wish to put on the website and instead email it to lenders.
