In another thread:- Does anyone else find this strange? The median is a perfectly defensible number to choose, well know by most investors and easy to explain. Why would they make their interest rates look worse by quoting the return of (slightly random) 65th percentile?

Because 50% of people will do worse than the median, and thus feel hard done by, I suspect.

Classic management tactics.
You say that the company is being restructured and that 500 people could lose their jobs, 3 months later you say that the plans are complete and that only 250 people are getting the push. Everyone breaths a sigh of relief and says wow that was much better than we expected.

I just hope they can deliver the 7.2%!! If they do, I will be more than happy with that.
Time will tell.

Smoke and mirrors/PR spin nonsense which personally I find very patronising.
7.2% - will believe it when I see it. Z***+ pays nothing like this so what magic formula/vastly superior business model have FC got?

Z***+ pays nothing like this so what magic formula/vastly superior business model have FC got? They have a track record, but the point is that 7.5% or 7.2% is based on loans recently made, and is not a promise for future lending. FC is business loans rather than personal loans, which may affect that comparison with Z***. Bravely, and perhaps foolishly, I will be selling a near-death property portfolio on Monday and plan to try the 'balanced' portfolio for a few months. Will let you know how it goes.

I don't think they can "Magic" a number out of thin air and claim that is what they are paying their lenders. There has to be a proven track record to get that figure from. And, in fact, that is what they are claiming as a 65th percentile, so, most should get better returns than that.

Thanks for the warning, I'll be turning lending off until Tuesday!

Thanks for the warning, I'll be turning lending off until Tuesday! They all have a perfect payment history, and very few payments still to make. I'll report when sold. I hope to be buying new loans for old, starting Monday pm.

You are better off turning on selling just after midnight on Monday (Get the extra day of interest!) and then turn back on lending first thing in the morning (FC don't loan money overnight). Means you will get an extra day of interest.

The pre-loved property parts went in less than 20 mins, except for one £20 property part which has less than a month. Only about £8k cash left from an account which was six figures for a while. Starting lending in a tame, safe, balanced and boring way this pm - wanting new loans.

As it happens, I left lending on. Partly forgetfulness/apathy, partly a view that I shouldn't attempt to mess with the system if I want to get a true measure of FC's autolend performance. I didn't end up with any of your loans anyway.

As I see it, lowering the headline rate is a good move. People get upset if their returns are lower than estimated. My annualised return is currently 8% (up from 7.6% a month ago). I expect it to go down, I can see a couple of defaults coming soon, but if it stays above 7% I will be happy to keep my funds reinvested.

Started afresh at 12.30 with my balanced £8k. They have lent about £400 in 80 mins. If others do this, then do not be tempted to look under the bonnet - there's nothing you can do and it's only going to upset you. I heard a murmuring sound from under the bonnet and had a quick look - loads of small retailers in a chorus of 'unlucky over xmas' 'need a sub' 'can I pay it back over five years?'. Shut the bonnet quick and went away, but not before reading:-
'we are very restricted with space in our current premises which isn't suitable for palletising stock and doesn't provide access for arctic lorries' Wow! they get lorries from the arctic, and they are only a small online retailer of shoes. Must be made of real polar bear skin.
And now 'We are one of the world's leading vendors providing multimedia services to the global localisation sector'. I thought it was only SMEs? Ah, their turnover is £350k, and they made a loss, and their net worth is negative, so now they need £36k to pay their bills. What band does the sorting hat choose? 'I see great potential here: A+, 5.9%'
Noooooooooo!!!
Don't look under the bonnet. Trust in FC.
