Phoned the switchboard and got through to a receptionist. She had little info to give apart from the upgrade could be 3-4 days. She suggested contact via info@collateraluk.com for more details. Would not give phone details but agreed to pass on my message requesting a callback. They obviously don't have a boiler plate reply ready. I emailed them nearly an hour ago - got delivery and read receipts - no reply yet though. I asked when they expected to be back on line. If I do get a reply I'll post it here.

stub8535 - is this close down of the website all part of the great secret re-structure that you discussed with them when you visited their offices? I too had no idea about the systems issue until I saw posts on here yesterday. Nothing was discussed about systems at my last meeting. At the first meeting, as we wrote in our report I think, we were given details of how their systems are set up. I think that the main computing system is in London somewhere with a backup data storage somewhere else. If the system is down it is possible that it is their IT supplier thats having issues. These are personal thoughts and not based on any comms had in the last few days. As usual we see the forum whipping itself into a frenzy of catastrophe. Be aware of none investors posting as well to support their ulterior motives. Be careful what you wish for. If one platform goes many will follow. Having thought further about the lack of communications, which I agree is bad form, they had a similar problem before where everything e mail stopped both in and out. They blamed their mailchimp account limits at the time. Could this be why we did not get the 2% emails? could it be the reason we got no notification of upgrade? It's possible.

I get the impression a number of P2P platforms are run from a single box (web/apps/db) in a DC.

They might have lost access to the user database. But that in itself is no excuse to stay silent. The Collateral directors could and should come to a public well known independent place (like this forum) and make any statement they need to do. I would agree in part thegrumbler. The forum contains a small subset of investors on platform. If, as you indicate, they may have lost access to the lender database, I cannot see how they could get to all their lenders in one go. The platform representatives are the ones who should be posting about what's really happening in order to calm things down on here by reassuring investors that their money and investments are safe.

OK, collateral Collateral Rep - You get this consultancy for free (trust me, I AM a professional)... I'm sure there are a few other IT guys here that would pick you to bits too. I just took a quick look at your setup for the first time (I really should have done this sooner). Not sure if this is due to the current disaster or not (I think not, judging by the time stamps), but please, FLOG your it guy. Only 2 name servers for your domain and both on the same IP! I'll be blunt. This is really, really stupid. Worse, your web site is hosted on that same IP. Seriously. Take that cheap server and smack Tony round the head with it! Don't let web hosting companies setup high reliability hosting for you! Most of them (some are OK), don't know what they are doing, even if they can build great sites. Seriously though, PM me if you want some proper, professional advice, even if it's a free 10 minute chat, 'cos I have loads of cash on your platform and I would feel far more comfortable if you had a setup that was likely to sustain even the simplest of faults... I know it's real easy for a company like yourselves with no IT staff to not realise the mess they are getting into and they trust web design companies to take care of it. DON'T. Seriously. Spend a couple grand and sort this. The damage to your business reputation far outweighs this cost.

Indeed, the silence is concerning. Not a good day in p2p land for me.

If this forum is not deemed to be sufficient in reach, they can use their official social channels, such as: twitter.com/CollateralUKLtdAny official statement would be better than silence (if silence continues people might start move their thinking from a 'simple' IT problem due to inexerience to a more serious issue with unauthorised access to funds) Ahhh, social media. Another thing they don't do well with. I do agree they need to get something away. A group text to all registered mobiles, if they have access, would also help dispel rumours and calm nerves.

Sometimes honesty IS the best policy .....particularly if there has been a foo-kup and you can't fix it double quick.
I'm not an IT expert but AFAIK firms don't do a 3-4 day IT upgrade in the middle of the week without giving any notice. To me 3-4 days doesn't sound like an 'upgrade' but more like a 'total rebuild'.
If Collateral are monitoring then please take it from me that it really would be best to let everyone know what's going on.
It's a question of confidence.
(you can whip the IT guy later)

As far as I can tell the office is empty.
Asking around someone remembers an airport taxi arriving just before the police!!
(tongue in cheek!)

I'm very surprised that we have not been offered the courtesy of a little magical reassurance from Gandalf Gordon the White. Too inconvenient? Collateral Rep
