This is making me nervous as well. If this was planned why not announce it beforehand? Why is the Rep silent? Whatever is happening I will not be trusting them as much going forward. I thought they were a great outfit before.

Come on Collateral out of courtesy get your smart phone or pad out and post on here some facts or this is going to snowball into a massive vote of no confidence in Collateral

Their usual email communication was very good, but in the last week or two, three emails of mine were never answered.
Then the sudden website down and no one answer phone calls really concerns me. All looks something is happening with the firm. It would be very bad if they cease trading.

I got to say I ain't particularly impressed.
I had some fears that their change of strategy might not work out. There appears to be an absolute shedload of competition for the smaller loans they want. They also seem to be carrying a bit of an overhang on the Notlob thing with its 30-odd tranches that (some) haven't been filled.
Communication has been dire, a simple holding message would have been enough to sort it out. No excuses.

Given their usually good record on communication, I am surprised that they have not put something on here, even if just to avert a tide of phone calls and emails. They have made very few non-routine posts to the forum since their response to mrclondon on Jan 26.

I've not been following this forum as I have been immensely happy with Collateral prior to this but that is an interesting albeit worrying observation.

While I'm as keen as anyone to get an update, I have to say that I don't think that this forum (however wonderful it might be!) is the place to be making serious announcements - not all investors will be members here.
What we need is for a public announcement, e.g. via Twitter and/or a more helpful message on the website.
That having been made, by all means bring this forum's attention to it.

Front page of the website is the place for an immediate update to my mind. Plus a courtesy email to all investors on what is going on. The fact they can't manage this is bound to worry people!!

My OCD means my biggest worry is the "website down" message isn't centred

If the platform fail to come back up tomorrow and pay Feb interest on time, then it is technically defaulted. That would be clear sign of cease trading.
We then need to figure out how to get our money back. My heart is sinking.

We then need to figure out how to get our money back. My heart is sinking. It's a platform update that's slightly overrun - I don't think we need to worry about platform default quite yet. They have contingency plans so an accountancy firm will step in to manage loans to maturity if anything did happen

Three flakes of snow and the country is put on an emergency footing. Fifty years ago we just accepted a bit of hardship and used common sense to cope. People have been panic buying food even down in Devon - OK, we might get a few flakes on Thursday. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMXxRcqmrkQA system outage on a minor website (probably caused by incompetence and lack of proper back-up) and the world is going to end? Unless they have lost the database of loans and lenders then it will all be restored soon enough. OK, I know it's terribly interesting for the computer geeks, and an honest explanation would have been welcome. Meanwhile, out in the real world, there are problems so huge that people just look away. Parkinson's Law of Triviality applies.
