I assume it's because when rates eventually reduce again they'll receive endless criticism like they did a few months ago. If I were in their shoes I'd want to keep the rate at a level that was stable and sustainable for short periods when there wasn't sufficient lender demand and use cashback as an incentive when additional lender funds are required. They obviously will decide whether to incentivise new lenders with referal bonuses or increase existing lender funds with the current type of offer.
If I'm correct then we only have ourselves to blame.

No apparent stipulation that I can see in the T&Cs that this incentive can't be combined with the Spring Bonus. I wonder if there is any financial advantage to applying for either one before the other in terms of compounding the interest?

I don't think that's entirely fair - I don't think people would be as vocal complaining about a fall, if they saw that rises can happen too. It was the continuous falling, based on an equation that meant that they could only fall, that was the main problem.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn't receive this email (nor the December bonus). Have contacted them again.

Fixed now. I opted out of marketing emails. Though I asked why when I log in I get the offer popup. That different apparently as its not direct marketing!
Had to request the newsletter by providing my email address via the home page.
