If anyone is thinking of attending the hearing and is struggling to find "High Court" Manchester, I got this from the Crown Court: "When a case is to be heard at the High Court in Manchester, this involves the High Court Judge and Court Clerk travelling from London to the Court to use one of the court rooms in the building. The Court therefore becomes the High Court when the High Court Judge sits."
So, I guess the actual location won't be known until the evening before when the listings are published. Even though I live in Surrey, I would be very interested in attending this hearing, even though it's in Manchester. For anyone who has been to this sort of hearing, is it definitely open to the public or is there a good chance that if I travel they could refuse me entrance..

Info directly from court: scheduled at 1030 and listed for 1 day in Court 41. Court address 1 Bridge St. Open to anyone who has an interest. I can't get away until lunchtime, but anyone else can go? I was debating attending but it is a 5 hours + journey each way , hopefully lenders will have some form of representation there , If not I may have no option . Btw I spoke to the court admin and the lady said the court should shut at 16:30 but she thinks it is likely this could go on later !

Mod Hat On/ I thought it might be useful to have a separate thread specifically for the impending Court Case, so that information concerning it doesn't get lost in the 'mire'

Does anyone know if a transcript will be made available in due course?

And what's the betting the hearing gets postponed. Still, there is excellent cheap accommodation to be had in Wigan and Huddersfield (allegedly).

There is no reason for lenders to be heard at this hearing. This hearing is to resolve a dispute between RR and the FCA. The hearing is in public so there is nothing to stop investors from sitting in the public gallery. Usually anybody can take manual notes but if the rules are the same as Criminal Courts any recording device is strictly forbidden.

Does anyone know if a transcript will be made available in due course? Not sure if it will. In Criminal cases (that I am familiar with) the default position is that they are not published (summaries are sometimes published independently if there are points of particular interest). When I ran a case (appeal) at the RCJ I had to pay a considerable sum and wait several months to be provided with a transcript (had to be typed and 'approved' before it was sent to me). When it arrived the most important sentence delivered by one of the Lord Justices was missing from the Transcript. (it was a mistake in European Law, confirmed by a professor of International Law who attended) ...... so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting to see a transcript.

My use of representative was probably not the best use of word here . I am aware of what you say ,
I just want to be sure that someone is there from the forum to get the low down
I would be nice for once to not have to rely on second hard snippets of information

OK understood, yes it was the word representative I picked up on, for those that don't know it is extremely unlikely that the court will allow any investors to give evidence or express an opinion, any attendees will have to sit quietly at the back.
I would go along myself (I like a good Court case) but I am a long way away and can't justify the trip. Having eyes in Courts is always a valuable exercise since you pick up the tone of the hearing which often can't be read into a transcript/court report. I have no idea what went on at the first hearing but I wouldn't be surprised if the Judge reserves his judgement at the end of the day. This of course depends on what demands were placed at the original hearing and what evidence has been placed before the Court.

I can see we as lenders will love to hear how this plays out and expect interest from borrowers and other P2P companys. Lets hope there are conclusions and we can move forward.

Thanks to all who have posted useful practical information and suggestions here!
With a middling sum in COL I have not added to the heat and smoke on the 'other thread' (though again there have been many helpful and useful informative postings and I also don't object to those who, in an information vacuum, speculate or express understandable frustration).
If the court case had been in London I would certainly attend as this would be a way to get first-hand information. I've been to other High Court hearings in which I have had an interest. I hope that a more local lender might be able to get along and report back, though there is indeed a chance that there won't be much 'obvious' progress on the day.
Perhaps surprisingly this thread, however, has been relatively quiet so far.
Another possibility might be to wave the court details in front of some of the 'altfi' writers. A bit of news that they could report on first hand! Although by itself a relatively small affair even in P2P/P2B world (except, understandably, to anyone more heavily exposed than might have been prudent) the reverberations will be felt more widely, whatever the eventual outcome.

Further to my last post I have now given a 'heads up' on the date/time of the hearing (as far as is currently known) to the folks at p2pfinancenews with a suggestion that they might like to attend. I don't know if they will. If they do, and if they are able to post on their site a timely first hand summary of statements made in court and any outcome on the day..... that will satisfy my own curiosity!
