Thanks . Depending on the amount you have to invest £<10000 better have multiple current accounts paying 3-5% for up to £5000 each just cycle minimum deposit each month. Swap regularly and get up to £180 rewards . Currently manage £12000 this way with 3.9% overall. All FSCS protected. Plus instant access penalty free as interest calculated daily. If you require Direct Debits usually 2 if you don’t have enough just set one up for accounts you can then withdraw ie S&S account. Only TSB that I'm aware of fits your criteria (just) at 3% and only allows £1500, unless you count Nationwide, but that's only for a single year. Even if we count N'wide, that still leaves us at only £4k altogether. Is the other £8k your magical 7% BOS current account that no-one else can get? Or do you just manage a lot of TSB accounts? TSB 3% £1500 , Nationwide 5% up to £2500 (1 year) . Halifax £2 per month on £750 (3%), BOS 1-2% up to £5000, Lloyd’s 1.5% (£1500) , Santander 1.5% (£500). ......Switch one to M&S and get £180 for £1000 (18%) . Switch one to First direct get £50 then leave before year up and get £100 Bos also has up to 15% of shops lots of rewards others also offer other rewards So let’s see what you get for instant access account FCSC protected savings without any additional rewards. Held for 1 year. Bank. Investment . Interest TSB. 1500 45 N.Wide. 2500. 125 Halifax. 750. 24 BOS. 5000. 75 Lloyds. 1500. 22.5 Santander 500. 7.5 Total. 11750 299 2.5% Year 2. Take M&S account (Close Santander). You get £180 . Close Lloyd’s open first direct (£50) then close month 11 get £100 Leave the rest at lower rates and get at least £176 So in 2 years on 11750 you get £299+ £176 + £180+ £150 = £805. Which is 3.4% per year + freebies and other discounts which on some holidays etc could save thousands. No risk and just a couple of hours on PC. Oh forgot M&S regular saver 5% AER add some there as well and return will be over 4% PA over 2 years. Keep a eye out for switching offers and snap up the best.

The best way to save money is to constantly seek vouchers and bargains. I just got £80 worth of food at Tesco (steak , joints etc) for £8.00 take that from one of your lower paying bank accounts amounts to get equivalent over 90% interest on the £70 you have left.
NEVER buy without a voucher if possible. If buying online check for deals and go through Quidco to Top cashback.
Do this daily and the equivalent returns are huge although it may not seem so. 162 toilet rolls at farmfoods £28 with vouchers 17p a roll for 3ply it’s ok £80 at Tesco for Andrex . ( Apparently There will be a post Brexit Shortage) So equivalent to £50 saving on your £80 so if toilet rolls lasts a year that deal alone is equal to 5% interest on £1000
Smarter shopping is the best investment you can make. As the adverts say If you spend £5000 a year on food swap to Aldi et al and save £1500 enough for a holiday.

Personally I find delivery the best option. Tons of cons (legal ones I might add) Waitrose are just plain daft always sending £15 of £100. Free delivery on orders over £60. Note what I say on orders not on deliveries. If they dont have it in and you say no substitutes it's there problem. Had two deliveries where they refunded me more than the cost of the goods roughly £40 worth of food £42 refunded. Best was £80 delivery with £80 refund. Told me they refunded me because they lost my order, obviously put it on the wrong van insisted they bring it to me, which they did but never asked for money....sweet. Tesco I am not sure about all supermarkets but it appears that substitutes that cost more than the original are charged at the price of the goods you ordered. If the substitutes are less then they charge you the lower price. You can even choose your own substitutes......very very expensive substitutes and they don't charge the higher price. Was even selling cider to the landlord in my local for a nice profit. Delivery savers are really good deals £3.99 for a months worth of deliveries on Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday from Tesco. I have the early morning ones where they normally charge £6 delivery. Or better still daughter has the same deal from Asda £28 for the year, get her to order and don't pay her. The last bit don't work as she whines like hell!!!

With Tesco etc
Early October Buy £200 of Christmas savers, In November you get your £200 back plus £12 Bonus ( so 5% in just over a month )
Iceland £1 Bonus on every £20 top up on bonus card
So Say I top up £20 a month and then spend it, After 12 Months I have £12 in Bonuses That can equate to 60% !
Morrisons do the same with Christmas savings as Tesco so again you could buy just before you shop and make 6% on a big shop
all of these better than faffing about to make an extra 0.3% on savings.

And yes use vouchers, Last week my local Tesco spat me a voucher for £9 off a bottle of Jack Daniels rye Whisky, yesterday JD was on offer at £16 a bottle, so I looked to see if it said rye and none did so I asked at Customer services and they agreed to take the £9 off they £16 reduced bottle.
So did my shop got it just over £60, Gave the lady the JD voucher and a £4 off £30 spend and a double points voucher and got my shop for £47 odd and still got the 10P off fuel so in this case I spent £60 and got £13 back instantly and will get another £5 on fuel and 30P in extra points so a 30% return.
I buy quite a lot on eBay and collect all the points and use topcashback that effectively gives me 1.5% return on spend tax free ( it's an eBay business account ).
I usually only spend nectar points on double ups and the spend x get x/2 back to maximise. Last year used points on double up to get a food processor reduced to £35 from £70 and effectively £17.5 of points.

Thank you. My current strategy in no less than 2.5% for new reg savers, so I won't be applying for it now, but it's good to know the offers.

Managed to get 3% at Virgin local branch ends in a few days. You can still set up a standing order, so it just needs another visit at end of term. I'm not sure how they benefit from these type of accounts, perhaps they get a business rate reduction possibly? Also Coventry BC 2.5% online but with a greater monthly allowance of £500.(no current account required)

I hope issue 20 will have the same offer as the previous. Coventry 2.5% is a good offer, I'm already in. Some years ago opening 4.5% reg saver at Barclays branch I was told that paying this rate is out of pocket for them, but the scheme is there to attract new customers.

Thank you dan1 . I'm having a "maturity crisis" atm, many of them happened to mature in Oct/Nov and my Al Rayan is getting larger and larger. So this Christmas offer is a good news (every little helps)

Some people should really consider taking up a hobby. edited just now. With that in mind. I used to like writing simple programs in the day of the ZX80 . I used to do card game simulations. I did do one for roulette that does work with one proviso it can only be used on “Live wheels” preferably one of those that show up to date wheels statistics that are now required in the big casinos. In the old days I used to win a tenner a day then stop. This was when a win was 10p ie. had to win 100 times on even odds. Will need to re-write the program but by putting the theory into practice for the last Couple of weeks with phantom account I have easily made £50 -£100 in less than an hour. I stop after £100. In the last 10 days have made the £1000 I choose to phantom deposit. I did it for fun before, after I won my initial stake I tended to be more laissez-fairs and lose the lot. When visiting the real life casino I would stop when I won enough for a nice meal at their restaurant. I will try a £1000 in the real games and stick to my £100 a day win and see how that goes each win will be £10 so should take about 10-100 spins. Probably take me a week or so to get back into writing the program to follow my algorithm. It is not magic just the application of statistics without emotion or bias. That is the difficult bit. Maths and probability are your best friend. Once I have perfected it I will be happy to put it out there for all the wolves to tear it apart and for the sceptical to put it to the test either in fantasy bets or actual bets. It is a bit of fun and if you can find a low bet limit wheel it won’t cost a fortune to try. CAUTION ! Those with an addictive personality should stay clear of any Casino “The house usually has an edge” but not always that is why some folk are barred.

My savings account tip of the day - The Investec Notice Plus account. 1.8% interest and only tied in with 95 days notice. Given that the rate beats the best currently available 1 year fix, that's not a bad deal I think. (also has various flavours of shorter notice/immediate access for slightly less interest, and i believe an extra 0.05% interest if you don't withdraw for 90 days) Now existing customers only and the rate is dropping to 1.6% from 02/03/20 for the 95 days notice.
