Lest there be any doubt at all, I've had absolutely nothing to do with either ABL or Huddle and I was spammed by Huddle using the address I had registered with Collateral. There are many many others with exactly the same story. It is definitely Collateral data, the only mystery is how Huddle came by it. Which is exactly my situation.

A reminder the first batch list sent was actually called 'Collateral1' which can be seen if you click the 'Unsubscribe' option.

I've never been spammed by Huddle. I feel quite hurt. That's interesting if you were a COL investor. If there are people who signed up for an account relatively recently who were not part of the mailing list, perhaps we can zero in on approximately when the list was exfiltrated. Although another explanation is that they received so many complaints that they didn't get through the whole list before deciding it was an unwise strategy. A reminder the first batch list sent was actually called 'Collateral1' which can be seen if you click the 'Unsubscribe' option. For what it's worth, I was not in the first batch. I was in the second batch, which was sent out after Huddle had received a number of complaints from the first recipients and named their list more carefully. It's quite possible they sanitised not only the name of the list, but also the email addresses within it, and removal of a "+col" from the end of my gmail address would make my case compatible with part 1 of the hypothesis outlined by ceejay above.

Anyone else care to share?

Sometimes it is best that you are unable to discover what happened, because maybe if you did discover it then you might not be able say what happened.
It does seem that we need to look no further than the doings of Coll and the doings of Huddle to provide an explanation for what happened. The only loose end is that Mason's email suffix, used for Coll, would have to be removed. For which I refer you to my first sentence.
Anyway, all of this, while very disappointing, had no worse a motive than getting the Coll loans refinanced. Someone will have learned a lesson. A small matter compared with the Coll saga itself.

FWIW I was one of the first investors to sign up to COL(May 2016).....but only got emailed in the second batch. Perhaps because it wasn't until later in the year that I started investing more significantly....or perhaps even because I was probably never that big an investor with them(tho I think my holding was above average)so maybe just wasn't tempting enough bait. Who knows

I was a pretty small investor compared to most here and only got involved towards the end of 2017 yet still received an email in the first batch. The weird thing was that it wasn't sent to my normal Collateral email address but to another email address that I had entered on my phone (as I couldn't be bothered to type in the whole Collateral email address at one point). I think I entered this email address on the Collateral website but I'm not totally sure.
