The 31st HDR loan tranche repayment has been made today. This one is from the second law firm.
It was the 1st tranche repayment for #4647. This first tranche had a profit of 11.94%. The average profit across the 1 tranche is therefore 11.94% (16.47% XIRR).
The overall XIRR for my HDR case investments where at least one repayment has been received is now 21.69% (down 0.09%).
Assuming an equal amount was invested in each of the 9 HDR cases that have received at least 1 tranche repayment so far, the XIRR is 21.62%. For each £1k equal investment (£9k across the 9 loans), £3,230 of capital and £729.16 profit (£3,959.16 total) would have been paid so far.

A wee bit (9k at time of writing) has become available in the latest HDR case. Cheers for the heads up; I was waiting for something to come available but got bored checking. This one seemed to fill super fast, I did check promptly after getting the email. (i know it's open to some investors beforehand but I was still suprised as it's quite a large fill @ 420K)

Has anyone got any thoughts on the hdr loans and the possibility of councils going bankrupt?

The fact they are settling on all this litigation shows they are not very well run and that means their finances will be a mess as well. Something short of bankruptcy could put a spoke in the wheels, they only have so much money and they decide where it goes. More debt means higher interest payments, less to go around and smaller settlements. The court option doesn't like very practical or profitable for lenders, maybe an exceptional one.
I'm not saying it would mean a loss but the XIRR could be a lot less after 2 years. I've not been greedy, stayed with 1 loan for each company.

If houses are in disrepair they are failing in their responsibilities. The fact they are putting off repairs until they are sued speaks volumes, it should never get that far. Can they legally not pay court ordered payments? AF say cases that take longer to settle have a higher IRR.
