I agree. Have used PuTTY, Telnet, VNC and others for many years to remotely access other computers. TeamViewer makes the job a lot easier and you can even talk someone through installing it over the phone (although possibly not the really incompetent user).
TeamViewer had a big security breach a few years back and for that reason I no longer leave it installed on my own or others computers. But I consider it safe enough for occasional use for short periods.
