This weekend has highlighted to me a big problem with the SM. It was quietly chugging along with between 10 and 30 loans available and I added a few of my own. Then a few hours later someone decided to have a mass clearout and jam up the SM market. That in itself is ok, because we are all entitled to buy/sell when we want. The problem I see is that many of these loans appear AHEAD of mine in the SM view. Whereas my loans were 2nd or 3rd in the list, they now appear near the bottom which means that many of the more recent loans are likely to be sold first. Why is the list for a particular loan not displayed in the order the loan was put up for sale? pennyrelendex

I don't think that is what is going on. Since this morning when we had the glut of loans available (almost 90), there has been a steady stream of buying. Even my loans which were pushed down the list have sold. We are down now to a manageable 4 loans. Interestingly enough, the buyer(s) did not buy from the top of the lists but seemed to take from anywhere. The lists seem to be sorted by the first digit of the loan part number, rather than the date/time they entered the queue. I suppose if the buyer is taking from any random part of the queue then the listing order may not be as important as i first thought.

You seem to be right on the date/time of the loan being secondary to the loan digit number. When i purchase on the SM i look first at the interest rate and the loan size, then length of loan, the order of the listing irrelevant. Seems to be very busy on the SM at the moment, Do you think it's related to the ISA season?

It could very well be ISA related. It is that time of year.
