Not just the url either - the content looks bloody scary. By the way, I don't mind but if you want you can usually trim links by removing all characters after the question mark. So your link becomes this: www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-55376873The stuff after are parameters (information) your are supplying to the website. Often tracking and advertising but also can be filters if say you've been querying a standard table (in which case you need to supply the extra data) . Can also be essential but most/many times you can trim. That includes amazon products, most news ,ebay listings all sorts of stuff. Edit: And sorry to hear about your Christmas f****d up

The cynic in me just thinks this is a plan to clear the roads in Kent (think Dover & Folkestone) and the wider SE (think Felixstowe) in preparation for queuing lorries come New Year's Day, deal or no deal. Can you imagine what the press will make of people dying in ambulances stuck in self inflicted national chaos?

Looks like I'm now in tier 4, and my Christmas has officially been cancelled. I'm now in tier 1, but the other side of the road (quite literally) is in uber-lockdown...

This Christmas thing is a total fiasco.
For how many will this be the last straw, and they stop caring about the rules altogether? Very hard to get public trust back on covid rules now

I've read this new strain increases Rt by 0.4 and infects kids more. If this is true it would imply the rate of vaccination + naturally acquired immunity would need to be higher to reach herd immunity. I guess the importance of vaccinating kids would also be raised. REM: simplistically, HIT = 1 - 1/R0.

Looking at these charts, cases in the new tier 4 areas - where this new variant is more prevalent - started going up even before the end of the lockdown, unlike in other areas. Does that mean not even "lockdown 2"-style measures are enough to control this new variant?

Most will follow them, because they know it is the right thing to do, safe in the knowledge that our rules are the same as many other European countries.

With higher transmission rates come higher infection rates come likely higher number of mutations. Anybody else sitting there wondering what happens if out of the soon to be dominant strain another variant emerges which renders the vaccines far less effective ?
