Just a guess on my part, but could be from ELectronic FINance. Uh huh. Silly me. I'd hoped it was a literary allusion to Goblin Market, only they were the goodies. Tech Folk dont do poetry. Pity,I was almost tempted to have a punt for reasons of sentiment. Not sure Goblins and Elves have ever got on well. But I'm happy with these Elves so far.

After asking about Elfin earlier in this thread i invested a small sum for 6 months which ends next month. The xirr was about 6% but the last interest amount next month has jumped fourfold. This has bumped the xirr to 10%. Has anyone else experienced this?.

Thanks to everyone for sharing! I have always thought the concept and people behind this platform looked promising. They have suffered from comparisons with FO, but their revolving credit and borrowers are not the same market as payday loans.

Thanks ilmoro and ace. ilmoro have you got a maturity next month? Perhaps they add a bonus at maturity depending on defaults etc, a bit like terminal bonus on a with profits insurance policy. Brings back memories of my first job at Pearl Assurance early 80's.

I put in a few separate small amounts and the AERs they give on the site for the separate investments are wildly different from each other, ranging from 8.4% to 16.8%. I don't know if that is different mixes of grades of loans (although I thought they balanced across grades), or reflects losses in some tranches. I hadn't really looked at this before perhaps I will start to keep a record and see how they change. Edit: It could also be gaps in deployment in some tranches.

I think its got something to do with interest phasing as I didnt get any interest for one loan in Jan so must be due two months in Feb, and I think there might be accrued elsewhere, I am struggling to reconcile the level of payments relative to changes in investment levels. Could also be to changes in deployment & underlying loan rates, my investment xirr range for 0 to 8.2%

I read somewhere that rates are different depending on the loan length (which is logical), but I can't find anywhere what the differences are. Anyone know where to look?

I read somewhere that rates are different depending on the loan length (which is logical), but I can't find anywhere what the differences are. Anyone know where to look? If you go to your Account Details page and alter the Maturity length you can see the Projected Returns figure change. I.e.: 3 years = 5.8%, 2 years = 5.0%, 1 year = 4.3%, 6 months = 3.8%. Not that they seem to bare any relation to actual returns. The platform is reporting that my 3 year loan is currently achieving 9.2% AER, and my 1 year is currently achieving 9.9% AER. My own calculation shows that I'm earning 8.97% XIRR.

Are people rolling on their 6 month investment? Or investing more or for longer? I will be.

Are people rolling on their 6 month investment? Or investing more or for longer? I will be. My first investment matures mid february. Not sure if they offer reinvestment or just return money to you, will see soon. I am happy to continue with them and will probably up my investment a bit more and experiment with different terms. Would be nice to have a bit more information on the website regarding how your investment is diversified but i'm happy with the returns.

Hi - I've just started investing on Elfin today, only £100. I hope to post updates where I can and also follow your experiences. I've followed this P2P forum for many years (I previously worked at a major P2P) but haven't ever really posted before.
