Second, AlphaGo, the story of the development of AlphaGo. It's surprisingly human.

thank you for posting. That has made me want to go and dig out my book on chaos (called 'Chaos') that I know I have sitting around somewhere but haven't revisited in the last 20 years. Unfortunately, after much searching I can't find it - though I can find another book by the same author. I'm sure its there somewhere, if only I could find it amongst all the domestic chaos..... I agree with the presenter: not enough is made in mainstream education of some of the true wonders, beauty and intrigue of mathematics.

this Royal Institute talk popped up in my notifications yesterday, just gone and watched it. Are Viruses Alive? - with Carl Zimmer
If you don't want to watch it all, then the bit at around 40:50 is a bit mind boggling, and may want you to wind back to the start and watch.

Thank you, just watched it. Excellent. In one way it saddens me though, as it reminds me how much of my maths and physics I have forgotten, as well as reminding me that my brain isn't as agile as it used to be and that I need to go watch it at least one more time.

some might find this interesting, some may find it surprising, some may find it disconcerting

Some pretty heavyweight intellectual horsepower here. I'm going to have to watch it more than once .

Being the Royal Institute Xmas lectures, this is of course targeted at younger souls. However, if you weren't aware of it you might have someone you'd like to share it with. Its actually also quite fun to watch. Might also be educationally appropriate for those who are older but has somehow managed to remain unfamiliar with the subject matter. "Professor Jonathan Van-Tam dives into the microworld of viruses, revealing how these invisible invaders can infect our bodies and how a revolution in testing may transform medicine forever."
www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0012tz5/royal-institution-christmas-lectures-2021-2-the-perfect-stormIts a 3 part series.

Lagrange points. Particularly pertinent with James Webb telescope launch, but also interesting in general:
