Apparently retired Doctors, and Pharmacists Volunteering to Cover during the outbreak are expected to pay to update professional indemnity insurance before working, Ditto Nurses have to update subs etc with RCN.
Is there a way we could create a fund to pay for this ?

I messaged my MP yesterday, within the hour I had a response asking for my phone number, so I sent it and got a call, He says he's disgusted that they have to pay out of own pockets, and will be raising with health secretary urgently.
Hey I'm one of the Odd groups, because my business less than 3 years old I get nothing, because I'm not on state benefits I get nothing ( My mate is laughing cos his household income on benefits up by £40 a week )
But I suppose I do get my works pension still so ...

" Today the GMC will email doctors who left the register in the last three years about providing temporary registration with a licence to practise as part of the response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. If you intend to return to NHS work on a temporary basis in response to the pandemic, NHS indemnity will be available throughout the UK to cover clinical negligence claims arising from this work. MDU members who are permanently retired can also temporarily reactivate their membership for an initial three months at no cost to receive our support with non-claims matters such as patient complaints or coroners’ inquiries. We recognise that this is a fast moving situation and we will keep it under close review so we can provide you with the support you need."
so it looks as though most doctors will be OK (as long as they don't catch corona virus). I haven't checked the other indemnity organisations but I assume they're the same

PDA is covering pharmacists working in NHS, sounds good until you realise that's those in Hospital Pharmacies, and some in GP surgeries. Most however work for Independent pharmacies, or the big chains and aren't covered.
Bu latest communication from my MP is that he's pressing UK and Welsh Governments to right this inequality. ( BTW he's previously been one of those not responding or telling me how great he and his party is )
Ironically after writing my previous post I got an email from my local AM ( welsh assembly member ) giving me details of the website so she could sign up to volunteer ( so obviously hadn't read my email at all ).

Sounds like you've got one of those rare MPs who actually does some work ! I've long given up trying to communicate with my MP. You write to him and all you receive in reply is a two-page template letter full of waffle that does not answer the question and instead goes on about how great his party is and what supposedly great work they claim they are doing. Self-congratulatory bull. Sounds like our MP over here in rainy - well sunny today because we have to stay in - Wiltshire. I think some of them have stock letter templates probably 10 of them and the MP's office person just selects one for the day and stamps the letter with the MP's signature. Nice headed paper though!. At least he replies eventually - bit annoying when we are poking him for his help in specific votes in the house but hey it is what it is...
