He would say that, given that he runs a website encouraging P2P lending.
I don't think Neil Faulkner knows anything more than the very experienced P2P lenders on this forum, many of whom are of precisely the opposite opinion.

With the economy in a perilous state, the Government is planning on injecting hundreds of billions of pounds in stimulus but questions remain about it how it will utilise non-bank lenders in the fintech sector..........The UK’s fintech lending industry can deploy substantial amounts of loans to small businesses to help shore up the economy, according to Rob Straathof, CEO of Liberis, who says the British Business Bank and the Government should urgently enlist their help. Under plans drawn up by the Chancellor Rishi Sunak, the Government will guarantee up to 80 per cent of billions of pounds of loans made to small businesses via certain lending institutions in a bid to help struggling firms with cheap liquidity backed by the state. Five of these lenders - including Aldemore Bank - have temporarily withdrawn from the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, Bloomberg reported yesterday. Others including digital bank Tide says the scheme is available through too few lenders and the scheme itself is not fit for purpose during this crisis.

Many thanks for this information. Stay safe and well. SXLR Thanks, Safe and I am well though both men here are not; but that is nothing new.....
Both have chronic health conditions which struggle for recognition-(ME/CFS)....
I deal with the finance but their anxieties about RS exceed my anxiety about the current virus situation! I like to get a feel for what is happening in the wider perspective. It would be so easy to be panicked into a decision which would be regretted afterwards.
So I am thinking about all possible scenarios.......
FYI from 23rd March Peer-To-Peer Lenders Seek BoE Bailout

Profit from accured interest yes. Profit from capital loss no?
Only platforms that will *profit* will be those that retain investor confidence which so far, alot of main players have completely devestated. Some fault of their own, but on the other hand it appears packed with investors who don't understand the underlying asset they are holding. Moment it becomes illquid its rush for the door and then kick the floor screaming when they were too late.

If your menfolk have that nasty condition ruralres66 a food allergy test with this company www.yorktest.com/ might be a better investment than P2P. If they sometimes complain of digestive discomfort or bloating, you should definitely do it. Otherwise a prolonged period (months) of rest. Often people with the condition are characterised by pushing themselves into activity through pain, and it is counterproductive. I don't have the condition myself, but know people who have suffered with it.

Thanks for interest.
Done that, (test) have the tee shirt!
Allergy, food intolerance and sensitivities all investigated for both. Private specialist practitioners.
Husband is gluten and milk intolerant. Has had significant fatigue since 1970's and specific symptoms for more than 20 years. Additional adrenal and thyroid insufficiency - not recognised within NHS. Both are 'vulnerable' as I am due to age! We are also adversely impacted by agricultural spraying, as is garden which is regularly 'scorched'....even the grass lawn!
Son has been in isolation since 2000....... This is the norm for those moderately/severely affected with ME.
This current isolation palaver is nothing to us..... But the financial crisis is new.......and is very concerning....and I am very grateful for access to so many on this forum. Thank you all.

but on the other hand it appears packed with investors who don't understand the underlying asset they are holding. Absolutely. Otoh, that's also what some platforms depend on for the phenomenal growth that they exhibit within a short time - enough lenders who (conciously or not) see it as a quasi savings account. Hence names like Quick Access, Access, etc.
