DHSC comment suggests that it was down to 'technical difficulties' yesterday. It is now temporarily paused to ensure "consistency". Yet they were shown during the press conference today, so clearly the figures are still available.

While I expect the BAME effect in due course to come down to social factors like income/ pre-existing conditions / increased likelihood of working for the NHS etc; for your chart to not to be equally misleading ideally it would have equivalent ratios for the population as a whole and more importantly by age. BAME populations are generally younger, so in theory shouldn't be as impacted, unless there are other factors at play.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I've corrected the daily deaths figures from 24 May onwards using this, then re-worked the daily deaths chart.
martin44 You're almost certainly correct and it wouldn't surprise me if the number was 350+

Added deaths/cases for 03/06/2020: 359/1871 More deaths announced in the UK today than the rest of Europe (exc Russia) combined When we were on the upward side of the curve and had better figures than the rest of Europe, we were told that you can't compare because we are 2 weeks behind all the others. Now we are on the downward part of the curve and have figures worse that the rest, why has everyone suddenly forgotten the 2 week delay?

What on earth are you going on about agent69 ? -UK peak deaths of 1172 on Apr 21 -Spain peak deaths of 961 on Apr 02 -Italy peak deaths of 919 on Mar 27 suggesting UK lags Italy by around 19 days and Spain by around 25 days.
Latest 7-day average deaths figure for the UK is 274.4(*) whereas
-Spain 19 days ago was at 217 (315 after correcting for differences in UK/Spain population) and -Italy 25 days back was at 243 (272 after correcting for differences in UK/Spain population)
So, the UK looks in a better position than Spain and about the same as Italy at this point.
(*) Latest single daily deaths is 359 which gives a different result.

Fortunately, all countries use exactly the same methods for reporting and are entirely open, honest, and transparent so we can absolutely rely on the statistics without question.
