With a full holding each, the current probability of a couple winning absolutely zilch one month is a teeny 1.55%. Yes, you've guessed it.... We're leaving the door cracked open for others this month.

Mrs Aju got another 150 to add to her coffers. She seems to have quite a number of low value bond groups (25,50 etc) but in fact most the high values are giving returns.
as the list grows I'd prefer to have a lot less small groups but i'm not sure if she sold some off and relent them as a bigger group would be possible. I know its not that relevant have £25 and having 20000 blocks but she has some 100 or so low value blocks but its mostly the larger blocks that seem to be winners.

I'd just love to see the breakdown by block and which blocks have won what. Although I'm pretty sure you raised this topic before and it was discussed: not sure you ever listed the actually spread of bonds and numbers though.

We're leaving the door cracked open for others this month. Well, this is embarrassing. I checked my and SWMBO's prizes late last night, at around 01:30 this morning in fact, an hour or so after NS&I released their prize checker page for May's winners. It definitely told me we had no wins for May. I even checked a couple of times, because it's quite low odds of zero wins, but sure enough, they definitely stated no wins for May. Hence my post above. I checked again during the course of today and we have actually won £200 between us! I conclude there is some bad programming in NS&I, soon after they open up their prize checker for the new month, resulting in a timing window during which they tell you no prizes have been won even though there are some. I appreciate they have an awful lot of data to populate, but this is just unacceptable in IT terms. Anyway, turns out we can take the magnet off the electric meter for this month after all...

Yeah I remember something about blocks and the like. I'm not sure i'll be able to make the small blocks into a bigger block as they are winnings over the last couple of years or so - nothing greater than 150. I do have a list of the winnings and when they were won etc over and above the list one gets online. Thing is after I wrote that stuff above I've read most of the help stuff on the NS&I site and they do have forms and stuff for closing certain blocks but since we'd need some 30 odd forms i'm not sure its a viable option. The NS&I help stuff does suggest there is an easy way to do this but then I couldn't find anything that was then an option. Mrs Aju is soon going to be over the max limit and then they will have to move winnings to the bank account i suspect. It is what it is I guess. Of the winning blocks Mrs aju has 5 main blocks that are the main winners - there is only a single win on a £25 block - and they are £20,000, 11,000, 6,000 and two 5,000 blocks. BlkValue Wins £20,000 19 £11,000 11 £6,000 5 £5,000 10 I haven't split these 2 blocks up £500 0 £100 0 £50 0 £25 1
Not sure this shows much though as i didn't do the final breakdown of how much ...

Not sure this shows much though as i didn't do the final breakdown of how much ... That's interesting. You don't say how long she's held each block, but ignoring that aspect, you should note straightaway that her number of wins to date has followed quite closely the relationship, Wins=Blockvalue/1000. She's had 46 wins off nearly £48k, roughly 1 win per £1,000 and you can see immediately how remarkably uniformly distributed those wins have been between the different sized blocks. That simple empirical evidence alone might go some way to persuading you that the size of the blocks has no bearing on the odds of winning. A £20,000 block is likely to win twice the prizes of two £5,000 blocks, much as she's seen. A £20,000 block is no more "lucky" than four £5,000 blocks or twenty £1,000 blocks. There will always be outliers and the win off the £25 block looks like one. It probably won't win again for several years. Personally I would leave her holding exactly as it is. Mine and SWMBO's look just as "messy" as this, too, but we won't be changing that. To answer your other question, yes, when she reaches the £50k limit, they will start paying her prizes directly into her bank.
