I don't know how it is more secure , but my phone reads my thumb (fingerprint) so I don't use 6 digit number. Am I the only one who worries about getting bonked on the head while waiting for a bus and waking up with a massive headache and to find out my fingers been used to unlock my phone and empty my accounts?Or worse... Wake up with no phone and no finger! In seriousness, your fingerprint isn't even a bit of a secret so we should all probably think a bit more carefully about using it as such, even without the risk of being mugged for it Nope. Fortunately my phone doesn't have this technology but sadly no one would know that until I got the bonk on head and they tried to access it ... Edit: It's worse than I thought, how would they know which fingers to cut off perhaps they would just cut off both hands to be sure.

In seriousness, your fingerprint isn't even a bit of a secret so we should all probably think a bit more carefully about using it as such, even without the risk of being mugged for it That's not the point ... the problem with relying on any kind of secrecy is that once someone cracks the code / password then they can access your account from anywhere in the world. That opens up fraud to the whole world - and there are a lot of people tapping at keyboards trying to get your money. The idea is that it is a physical possession - equivalent to the well-established card+cardreader combo that is still used sometimes. There the critical possession is your card (which could also be stolen) but that is just not convenient in a mobile setting. Much better to use a device which you have with you all the time - your phone. And, BTW, its the phone that is critical, as it stores a key which is what is used to access your account. The fingerprint to access the phone is an extra layer of security as a bonus, but its not the important part.

But many young people carry it in the back pocket of their jeans where it pokes out in an inviting way and where it is great danger of getting squashed when they sit down. Has anyone found a convenient phone carrier, perhaps with belt loops that they can recommend? The bottom of a bag is OK for making calls but not much use for receiving them. My other half would also like one so suggestions suitable for both genders would be welcome.

If I'm out walking then my hiking trousers have some very handy big pockets (big enough for a map, so a phone is easy). Otherwise my usual favoured storage spot is a breast pocket on my shirt, though this is also getting harder as these are increasingly hard to find on new shirts. Plus I accept this may not be a female-friendly solution!

My other half would also like one so suggestions suitable for both genders would be welcome. I find a Personal Assistant is very handy for this (and many other purposes). Never tried attaching one via a belt loop though - probably some laws against that; at the very least the unions would likely complain - but on a plus-note, they are gender neutral. Alternatively, how about a shoulder holster - imagine the admiring glances you and the other half will get sporting a pair of those bad boys! Mmmmm-mmmmn... sweeeeeet. (I'm sure they'll come with some kind of hood or cover, just on the off chance it might rain.) In a variation on the 'fanny-pack', there's the ' Running Belt Pouch' - presumably the 'running' bit is optional. Seriously though, this could be just the thing you are looking for. Attaches to a belt vertically or horizontally, or to something like a belt loop (or handbag strap / buckle / D-ring thingy) via a carabina.

I'll keep my Dicktophone snugly stored in my "fanny-pack" Sorry, couldn't resist it.

I've opened one on 1st May, logged in and discovered that I have two... the second one was an empty Clydesdale "B" that I've opened about 4 years ago for £250 bonus. I've filled them both with £1000. I should be able to find out soon if I get interest on both. If I do, I'll open joint and see if I can get a "triple" 2% (every little helps) Would be interested to know if they pay out or not. Its fscs protected, will your postman have a issue with 85 letters from virgin? Yes, both accounts payed out today.

I opened an NS&I account in late May and put some money into Income bonds, paying by Debit card (instant transfer imo). All operations done online.
Two observations -some of the credits are still shown as Pending, at least a week after the payment (other identical payments have cleared, albeit very slowly) -June interest appears to have been paid only on cleared money, not the week-old Pending transactions (despite me being told the opposite a week ago when I queried the delay in funds clearing)
Anybody else have experience with NS&I Income bonds? I'm regretting opening the account.

Oddly yes, I opened one last week some time and the DC payment was made, last time I looked that was still pending. I did wonder (not having bothered to read anything much) if it would start today, the 5th apparently being pay day. Going to look now.... OK so it is still happily pending from a start date of 30th May. Rang the phone number, 'only hold if you are in dire financial need', not sure I could count it as that. Still it is 100% safe now. Did actually read a bit this time, found this confusing little masterpiece... Why has my balance not updated?
Your balance may not update straight away. Don't worry if this happens - you can still see your deposit by logging in, clicking on 'View account' then scrolling down to 'Pending transactions' and clicking the plus sign.
Your money will earn interest from the day you make your deposit.
If you invest on or after the 20th of any month, we may not be able to make the first interest payment on the 5th of the following month. But don't worry, you'll receive it the month after that.
