Have you by chance tried switching to desktop mode in chrome browser, although i've never done it on a phone - my eyesight is bad enough on a tablet - you could try it as there seems to be more control with a tablet in desktop mode for many sites I've found. Apologies in advance if I'm way off beam though. Just tried it on Mrs Aju's SS Tab2 and it seems ok in both portrait and landscape but on my android moto g it was a bit more interesting as the in landscape mode the keyboard almost filled the screen. I was able to move it around a bit to see the PW box. Once I had entered the pw and clicked the accept button it loaded up in both non desktop and desktop chrome browser mode. I'm not sure my eyes would work that well if I'm honest on the phone though. Also in android chrome the Keyboard enter key does seem to submit the password. I've noticed that some sites like tesco bank don;t seem to submit automatically and have to click the forward button in their screen. I'm not sure i'd want to do too much in these toys other than login and view if I could read it.

Desktop mode, extracting the direct URL, etc. I'm more concerned about the number of leads they're using with such bad Web design.

Perhaps I don't get on the site often enough, a few different buttons or name changes to relearn again.

They only made quite a few changes in the last few days. To be fair it looks a lot nicer on my desktop. I think its safe to say its probably not that great on smaller screens though.
I did have to make quite a few changes to my personal layouts this time round - I use stylus to make the screen less spread out and I change the account switcher to show me both accounts so its works better with the odd zoning issues that make it take longer than usual to trigger with a mouse.
It's a shame their coloring schemes and text sizing seems a little odd at times but then as I said above I've made it a lot easier for me personally by overriding the color, font and sizing changes using an extension. I've not been able to fix some width zoning override issues but I can live with that I guess as long as I can get two readable screens on my screen at once( the other being excel).
If i compare RS to Zopa then its clear there seems way more structured design of the RS screens than in the latest Zopa screens which seem to be thrown together in somewhat of a mismatched way. The pair together though are very heavily mired in RYI speed issues. Zopa seems to be giving us less in sold funds than daily returned funds. RS has not given us anything since our request on Mar 17th and the normal returned funds have slowed down now too but that was to be expected.
The overriding thing I think they both struggle with is logical flow design but that may be just the fussy systems designer of old in me. It's 100 times easier to go from ISA to everyday in RS than it is in Zopa and circumventing Zopa with saved links blows their unworkable flow cookies quite a bit too. Again though in both cases knowing how to reset cookies in the Zopa screens helps to prevent false logins. (I just toggle back and forth through their myriad of different/same paths screens to reset the login flag cookie/s.)
