The maths is more complicated than that, <snip>
Especially if you factor in some cashback offers / introductory target rates / etc ... Yes, I've a record of the referrals and cashbacks I earnt, but not the historic target rates for last four years nor any bonus rates on ISA investments.

Taxes complicate things though. If outside ISA, one could have paid 45% taxes on the interest and presumably only get CGT relief at a lower rate on the loss incurred by selling at a discount in the SM.

chris On the QAA, what's the logic for which withdrawal instruction capital repayments are applied to?
It doesn't seem to be either the oldest or the one with the highest discount. Is it random?
TIA

I've been told by the devs that it's the oldest one.

I've been told by the devs that it's the oldest one. OK, thanks, can't help but wonder whether it would be preferable to be the one with the highest discount ?

That would move your remaining sell orders further away from the market so would slow your sale, potentially moving you from a prime position to sell quickly. Optimal strategy would depend upon your intentions and priorities.

I've been told by the devs that it's the oldest one. OK, thanks, can't help but wonder whether it would be preferable to be the one with the highest discount ? The effect is the same whichever way it's done, i.e. a partial withdrawal at par. Why would it be preferable to be the one with the highest discount? If anything, it would make sense to be the one with the lowest discount.
Dev wise, I suspect it's easiest to apply it to the oldest one/first one found. Then go to the second oldest one if necessary...
I've set withdrawals so the oldest is at par.
